Hello, my name is Michael Yadao-Evans, and I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist from the state of Hawaii. My approach to therapy is very collaborative because I think change is a process we all go through together. I have worked mostly with children from infants to high school, neurodevelopmental disorders (ADHD, Autism), and various substance abuse disorders.

Most people experience times in life when they don’t know how to cope or don’t know what to do about something they are struggling with. Some people struggle for years, either alone or in their relationships, before they are ready to talk with someone about things they want to change in their life. Some feel content in life except in one area, and they could use an unbiased third party to help them solve that last piece of their puzzle. Whatever your reason is, seeking help is not easy, and it is a brave move that speaks volumes of your readiness to better your life.

I am a trauma-informed, client-centered therapist. What that means is I desire to help you recognize and understand the impact that past experiences may have on your present thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Then, we will go a step further and identify if those things are still serving you or if there are areas you’d like to change.

I specialize in treating Anxiety, utilizing evidence-based modalities which are backed by scientific evidence, teaching people to achieve calm as soon as the first session. I can also help you to manage Depression, life transitions, and more. Lastly, I am a hilo native, and iv'e been in practice here for 11 years.

Aloha, here at Akua Family Therapy our specialty is relationship therapy. We serve couples and individuals who are looking to improve their relationships, and process relationship distress. Couples who are looking to strengthen communication, conflict management and/or increase intimacy should give us a call. I specialize in working with children/ teens (ages 3-18) and their families, particularly those with a history of trauma. I believe long-term change happens within the family system, and I try to involve parents and caregivers consistently throughout the treatment process because of this.

Aloha! I am a credentialed Art Therapist and Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the state of Hawaii. I have experience working with all ages; children, adolescents, adults and families. Art is a universal language that communicates from the heart. Sometimes there are no words to express what is going on inside of us. The process of creating art provides an image, a piece of the puzzle of our life. When a series of images are put together, they tell a story. Whether the condition is depression or anxiety, a crisis, a traumatic event or a series of events, art therapy becomes a way to process, express and communicate your story.

Moani Silva is an LMFT who was born and raised in Hawaii. She has experience working with people from all different ethnic backgrounds and believes in treating the whole being. She uses a conscious and holistic approach when working with individuals, families and children to help them thrive and experience living life to its fullest. She works to empower clients to awaken their self-guidance system, embrace their authentic selves, open to a life worth living, and step onto their own unique life-path.

In this way, I help clients to reconceptualize their issues as road signs that are guiding them on their path of healing; just the same way that physical symptoms like a fever or ache directs us to an ailment that needs addressing, so too do psychological issues such as depression, anxiety, or addictions, point to a deeper underlying wound that is calling to be healed.
