Hi, my name is Tatiana Abasolo and I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor. I utilize a cognitive behavioral approach as well as other treatment modalities for trauma. I believe each client has a unique experience and I utilize a blend of all treatment modalities depending on a client's needs. I create a non-judgmental environment for my clients. I meet my clients where they are and place an emphasis on their goals for their therapeutic journey.

What I do is help clients identify and understand thoughts and beliefs they have that keep them from feeling good about themselves and get in the way of living life to its fullest. Each individual has a unique view of the world and relationships etched out of our early experience. If those experiences are good enough, then one is able to meet life's challenges, but if these experiences are wrought with dysfunction and trauma, meeting these challenges is much more difficult and one may require assistance from a professional who can safely facilitate exploration of the obstacles to fulfillment.

I have particular compassion and knowledge for those with transgender and sexual orientation issues and with survivors of sexual abuse and sexual assault. I am familiar with the social stigma and trauma that can result from being a person with these issues and have helped many overcome the resulting emotional and psychological distress.

In 1996, I began working with culturally diverse children, adolescents, adults and families in Oahu through a community health center in Honolulu.. The increasing need for mental health services for this population has challenged me to recognize, accept, and understand the complexities of their problems - challenges that offer potential for personal and professional growth, creativity, and deeper human connection. I had the opportunity since then to draw on various psychological approaches that include Humanistic, Cognitive-Behavioral, Psychodynamic, Existential, System/Family, Developmental and Psychoeducational.
