My focus as a clinician is to process certain events and facilitate healing and growth. I will focus primarily on affect management and stabilization skills, prioritizing attunement and positive belief systems. This fits well with/if you or your child struggles with something that is distressing, self-esteem, grief and loss, and/or high conflict environments. I use a combination of talk therapy, sand therapy, EMDR, and art therapy.
I’ve been a practicing social worker for over 20 years. I teach parenting classes and worked to support mothers expecting and postpartum for over 7 years. Prior to practicing at Cape Fear Psychological Services, I worked as the onsite mental health therapist in the NICU, SCO, Labor and Delivery, and Mother/Baby Unit.
I believe in the power and tenacity of the woman's experience. I believe that connection heals. Building up insight into our behaviors, defense mechanisms, and attachment styles is important. Practicing within our comfortability and staying aligned with our values takes time, compassion, and grace.
