As my profile states, I am unable to start with new clients at this time- Sometimes people miss that when they message me and I want to be clear! The people I enjoy working with most are the ones who aren't sure therapy is for them, or haven't had great experiences in the past. I get what it's like for therapy not to go well. Maybe they're nervous I'll side with their spouse. Maybe they're worried it'll be too much too fast. The best part of my job is discovering the unique stories of each person who comes into my office, then developing a relationship to support their progress towards a more comfortable, resilient way of living.
I have lived many lives in many places, so I find I can connect to a wide range of people. I've completed structured training in the following approaches: Somatic Experiencing for trauma (Intermediate), Gottman couples therapy (level 2), Emotionally-Focused couples therapy, Internal Family Systems, sandtray, experiential therapy, nondirective play therapy.
My approach comes from a place of unconditional positive regard (no shaming or guilting) and client-directedness (I trust client's instincts about what needs to happen when). I am comfortable balancing gentleness and directness in a way that can maintain the therapeutic relationship and encourage growth.
