I have the schooling and credentialing required to be a good therapist. More importantly I have been married for 37 years and raised three children. I understand how difficult it is to make marriage work. Through supportive friends, involvement in my church community and a life-time of raising a family I have gained wisdom helpful in addressing relationship problems. I have treated people with depression, anxiety, grief, loss, couples struggling to hold their marriage together. When appropriate I integrate a Christian perspective into counseling. I believe that understanding hidden emotions helps couples care for each other. I work at listening and developing solutions.
I have been told I am easy to talk to, naturally compassionate, have a nonjudgmental presence, just a "regular person" who is practical and supportive. I desire to have a safe, comfortable space, finding real solutions for change. Topics addressed include developing healthy communication, resolving conflicts, rekindling relationships, sexual conflicts, differing parenting styles, marital resiliency.
I am also personally experienced in walking with couples, parents who live with family members suffering from eating disorders. This can be a confusing time for families. Finding support is vital to healing.
