As an experienced anxiety, grief, & relationship therapist, I’m here to guide you and help you get curious about yourself to create change, growth, and a more fulfilling life.
Do you find yourself gripped by anxiety and worry, no matter what you do? From relationship to relationship, you keep finding yourself in the same negative cycle. You might be asking yourself: Why do I keep ending up in relationships with partners who treat me horribly? Why do I always feel like I have to be there for everyone else, but no one is there for me? You know you need to make a shift, you're just not sure how. You want to gain deeper insight into yourself and your past experiences, and you’re ready to change your “default setting” and start creating new patterns in your life.

I have a particular interest in working with adults and children who struggle with trauma, depression, anxiety, loss and grief, ADHD, and spirituality.
I believe that counseling is a practice of instilling, promoting, and maintaining hope and restoring the wounded person to wholeness. What inspired me to go into this field is a quote by Russell A. Barkley, “The children who need love the most, will always ask for it in the most unloving ways.” To some degree, this can be said about adults as well, so I dedicate what I do in helping individuals no matter how they ask.

Grief, trauma, and life transitions can feel overwhelming, but I believe, with the right support, everyone has the potential to heal and thrive.
I specialize in working with clients who are experiencing grief, navigating major life transitions, processing current or past trauma, seeking caregiver support, or coming to terms with chronic or life-limiting illnesses. I've dedicated my practice to supporting adults who seek to heal, grow, and reclaim their lives after experiencing significant challenges. I spent my early career advocating for survivors of sexual assault and violent crime in the courts. Since graduating with my MSW, I've served as a hospital social worker - most recently in Oncology, Palliative Care and Hospice.

I have experience working with individuals, couples and family systems who happen to find themselves stuck due to anxiety, depression, relationship issues, traumas and abuses (both past and present), identity concerns, spirituality, personality disorders, life stage transitions, and grief.
What is the point of insight if nothing changes? What is the point of change if we lack insight as to why it even did? Through our conversations I’d like to help you to see, both yourself and your situation, in an authentic light with a new perspective that sticks with you long after you leave the therapy room.

I have experience helping clients navigate many of life’s challenges including, but not limited to: trauma- and stressor- related disorders, anxiety disorders, depression and mood disorders, life transitions, grief, self-esteem, shame and guilt, interpersonal relationships, women’s issues, and chronic pain.
I am an Art Psychotherapist and Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Washington State. I am eclectic in my approach to therapy, as one approach does not fit all, and I employ methods from several modalities. In broad terms, my therapeutic stance is holistic and person-centered. I believe that the therapeutic relationship is a powerful agent of change and, therefore, I value building trust and a strong rapport with my clients. Additionally, as an art therapist, I believe engagement in art making is life-enhancing and that bringing the creative process into therapy facilitates healing and growth.

Grief Therapists

How long does therapy take for grief?

There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?

Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?

Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?

Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
