As an experienced grief therapist, I believe you have a right to anything you may feel or experience following the loss of a loved one.
Grieving the death of a loved one leaves us feeling overwhelmed, exhausted, and disconnected from ourselves, others, and the world as we knew it. Although grief is full of uncertainty, one thing is clear: it will change you. Perhaps what once felt like manageable stress is now blossoming into sleepless nights, overthinking, and increasing fear. Maybe you’re becoming frustrated by others’ responses or feeling like a burden to those around you. You might be beginning to tuck away the truth about your loss because it’s too much, too dark, too upsetting. But you can’t forget what happened, you don’t have a way to escape it.

I'm a licensed clinical supervisor and I treat all types of psychological issues, specializing in work with Individuals with Depression, Anxiety, OCD, Grief/Loss, Life Transitions, Couples and Family Therapy and Life Coaching.
Seeking out a therapist can be an intimidating venture, so I make it my priority within the first contacts to help the client feel relaxed and confident in my expertise to assist them while creating an environment of safety and trust where they can examine, experience and process their own thoughts, feelings, or anything that they deem important. As your therapist, I empathically listen while doing my best to answer any questions that may arise in therapy. This approach creates a forum where the client feels comfortable to share their struggles and helps them alleviate barriers and fosters an authentic therapeutic connection.

My sessions focus on learning about you and your concerns, inviting you to practice techniques to focus on anxiety, depression, grief and loss, stress, and other worrisome issues that are interfering with your life.
Do you put on a happy face to get through the day but inside feel like you want to scream or cry? I can relate. Most people don't have the option to crawl in a hole, stay in bed all day and night, or hide from the world. But when you suffer with anxiety or depression, that's probably what you feel like doing. The problem is, hiding won't make those feelings go away. Do you feel stuck or think there is no hope of feeling better? Do you fight racing thoughts at night instead of sleeping? I can help.

I have also worked in rehabilitation and trauma settings, in which I worked with patients dealing with trauma, crisis, and grief.
I am passionate about working with individuals, couples, and families; helping them achieve their unique therapeutic goals and living the best version of their life. I believe therapy is a great opportunity to develop personal insight and confidence and impact the development of meaningful relationships. It takes a lot of courage and vulnerability to ask for help. Although stepping outside our comfort zone can be challenging, it is there where growth can begin to take place. I want to commend you on making this first step. Whatever you are going through, know you do not have to do it alone.

Grief Therapists

How long does therapy take for grief?

There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?

Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?

Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?

Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
