Whether you are 7 years old or 77, my previous experiences working with children and youth, work as a Hospice Chaplain and background in grief work allow me to offer therapeutic services to all ages.
As individuals, we are shaped by our experiences and in order to move forward, it is often necessary to explore our past. Narrative Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy are my primary forms of therapy used. As the client, it is important that you understand your own story, and how your emotions, actions and problems fit into the context of your story.

I can help individuals overcome and heal from anxiety, depression, grief, anger, emotional dysregulation, low self-esteem, negative self-talk, and more.
Do you feel like your past prevents you from living in the present? Are you more familiar with chaos than calm? When we experience negative life events, we become hypervigilant and on edge. Maybe this makes us lash out at our partner. Maybe it makes us feel overwhelmed by anxiety or depression. I am here to help you teach your body how to regulate yourself and your emotions. You can learn how to get out of that constant feeling that something will go wrong, and reach peace. I do so through using emotion-focused therapy and EMDR, however, these are just some of the tools in my toolkit!

I am a licensed mental health counselor, and I specialize in trauma, loss, and the treatment of clinical mental illness.
We often endure hardship and struggle for a long time before we recognize that we cannot or do not want to continue with things as they are. Change is possible, even after significant emotional pain, trauma, or loss. I invite you to consider how you want your life to change. I also invite you to take time and give attention to pursue necessary healing. Over the last decade of clinical and practical experience, I have come to value therapy that is mindful, holistic, and practical. I aim to come alongside people ready to see change and willing to take steps toward trauma recovery, renewed purpose and a lifestyle of mental health.

The emotional costs of medical care are often overlooked. You don't want to relive those painful or frightening images, the helplessness or fear. The racing heart, shortness of breath, or overwhelming feelings of dread and panic as you approach doctor or dentist appointments. For those living with a chronic illness, the journey can be filled with a sense of loss and grief. The life you once knew, filled with the freedom from constant medical interventions, can feel like a distant memory. You want to be able to get needed medical care without feeling like you need to escape.

I believe my primary function as it relates to clients is to be a conduit of peace and problem solving. I am certified in the field of Trauma and Loss. My Christian foundation and training has educated me on the importance of being a holistic therapist, using the mind/body connection with a strong focus on spirituality and forgiveness. Every human has all these parts in their soul, and healing is a culmination of tapping into individual strengths. How may I serve you through counseling?

How long does therapy take for grief?
There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.
When should you seek therapy for grief?
Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.
Can grief be managed without therapy?
Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.
What happens if grief is left untreated?
Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
