Together, we can help you process whatever it is - grief, depression, anxiety, relationships - and adapt so that the days ahead feel a little lighter.
My grandfather used to tell me: “Write your life in pencil for it will surely change”. While we can be certain that our life and circumstances will change throughout life, what we can rely on is our ability to adapt. I view counseling as an opportunity to help you figure out how to adapt to the curveballs life throws at us. I can help you learn new coping skills, gain a fresh perspective, or provide a listening ear, I believe that you too can adapt. I have experience in areas such as depression, anxiety, adjustment, oncology, chronic illness, and grief and loss.

Reach out to me TODAY and discover a Biblical guide through grief and pain.
The weight is almost unbearable. The feelings of grief are draining. You try to remember all of the good times of the past, but the emotional sorrow is like a veil over your head. You can’t seem to focus, and part of you doesn’t want to. Reality is too raw to face right now. What you lost haunts you everywhere and every day. Logically, you know you need to move on with life, but it's too difficult no matter how hard you try. You pray. Beg God to take this pain away. People tip-toe around you, and you hate that your relationships have changed. You find comfort in this grief, but you desperately want it to end. When will it end?

Time to move through your grief.
Are you feeling stressed, anxious, or depressed? Do you feel each day is a struggle and there is no hope? Do you have anger that is difficult to control? Have you experienced a life-changing event that you need help coping with and understanding? Is your child or teenager struggling with emotional, social, or behavioral difficulties? Are you a concerned parent? People visit counselors for many reasons. For some it is the beginning of breaking free of chains preventing discovery of their true self. For others it means understanding why unhealthy patterns of behavior continue. For all it is an investment in hope and change.

“Emotional wellbeing is just as important to us as Breathing is!” We all need to know that we deserve happiness even if we aren’t used to it. I have been a Social Worker for 28 years. In that time, I have worked in Community Mental Health, Rehab to home and long-term care, and hospice. I believe creating an environment of trust and safety is the most important part of the therapeutic relationship. I have experience with grief, depression, anxiety, borderline personality disorder, and trauma.

As a therapy client myself, I can tell you it takes courage to find a therapist. Life is not neat and tidy. We all need help. Not judgement, not lectures, not hearing people say ‘learn to cope.’ Healing is not a linear journey, it’s a process. I can be your partner in that process. You are the expert of your life! I’m a sounding board to help you find the solutions within! This is the case regardless of whether are dealing with depression, anxiety, communication issues, trauma, or grief.

I specialize in trauma, life transitions, and grief and loss, with experience in crisis intervention, including suicide and self-injury prevention.
I believe that everyone has inherent strength. While I can be direct and to the point, I understand that this conversation is about your life, not mine. I come from an inclusive feminist background and am comfortable working with all genders. I also believe in the power of laughter and that everyone is capable of living their best life. We are not broken and do not need fixing. However, there are times in life when we need a safe space to focus on where to go next. Addressing trauma, depression, PTSD, and CPTSD doesn’t always mean reliving past experiences or sharing every detail. My goal is to support you in moving beyond.

Life can be hard and if you are struggling with mental health concerns or have been confronted with a new challenge, life can be even harder. Sometimes we're thrown a curve ball and our ways of coping are no longer effective or perhaps your way of thinking has gotten in the way of recovering from emotional pain or loss. Regardless of the situation you find yourself in, I believe we're all doing the best we can and we can all do better. We either possess or can develop skills to manage stressors and improve our quality of life.

Grief Therapists

How long does therapy take for grief?

There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?

Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?

Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?

Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
