I'm a Licensed Psychologist/Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist in practice 35 years. I see individuals, couples, and adolescents. I tend to use a Cognitive Behavioral approach to therapy - I believe that our behavior is mostly driven by underlying attitudes and beliefs that give rise to the behavior. By examining beliefs (why we do what we do), we can more easily change behavior in sustainable ways. I give my clients practical things they can do to change their life.
I believe therapy to be a "guided conversation." I ask questions and guide the conversation to help clients uncover what they need in order to move on with the issue(s) at hand and help uncover patterns or themes that may be directing their behavior/choices. My clients get respectfully challenged to re-examine why they think and do what they think and do.
