I help treat religious OCD in current or former Latter-day Saints. If you struggle with compulsive confessing, praying, or repenting you know how much OCD can take the joy from religion. My clients struggle with feeling deep dark guilt in response to even perceived mistakes. Like Chidi from the Good Place, they stress deeply over even the possibility of sin. Their relationships with God and religion in general leave them with intense anxiety. If religion and morality bring dread instead of peace, we should work together. I am also happy to work with other types of OCD.
I want to help you face down your anxiety and find peace in your religious experience. I want you stop feeling so guilty and realize you are a good person. When it comes to OCD, traditional talk therapy will only make limited progress. I practice specialized therapies called ERP and EMDR that are considered highly effective for OCD treatment.
I understand that OCD is much deeper than counting and cleaning. It can threaten you ability to see yourself as a good person. I know how exhausting it is when your own mind doesn’t feel like a safe place. I won't push you harder than you're ready for. I will help you make peace with religion.
