I am a certified Relational Life Therapist (RLT), Gottman Method Couples Therapy, Interpersonal Neurobiology and Attachment Theory.
Are you getting what you want out of the relationship you are in? Sometimes good people have to deal with difficult problems. Often those problems get in the way of intimacy, friendship, and connection and leave us feeling alone and stuck. No matter what stage of relationship you are in I want to provide a space that is safe, supportive, and inspires change.

I utilize various therapeutic techniques, including CBT, Gottman Method, RCT, and ACT.
I believe that we hold the ability to challenge ourselves, to grow through maximizing our strengths, and finding unique ways to add to the best parts that already exist within us. I have found that through sharing a space where openness and understanding (and a little bit of humor) are present, you also have the ability to flourish, whether that be through walking the journey alone or with the added support of those who love and care for you. I focus on helping adults, both individuals and couples, with anxiety/stress, self-esteem, depression, communication, and relationships

In my work with couples and individuals, I draw from my specialized training in Gottman Method Couples Therapy and sex therapy.
I believe that each of us has the potential to experience dramatic growth, healing, and joy through our relationships and within ourselves, but we are often held back by fear, disconnection from ourselves, and repetitive relational dynamics that seem impossible to change. I feel my role as a therapist is to work in partnership with couples and individuals to bring awareness to these patterns and create an environment for change. By uncovering these insights, you will be able to build healthier connections and achieve a clearer understanding of yourself, your partner, or your relationship.

I'm also trained in Gottman Method Couples Therapy, a research-based approach to improving relationships.
Something isn't working. Maybe the conflict, or lack of connection, in your relationship is leaving you hurt and hopeless. Or you've taken the hard step of ending a relationship, but now don't know how to avoid making the same mistakes with your next one. Perhaps, like many, the last few years have left you stressed and burnt out at work, and you're looking for a new sense of purpose or meaning. Maybe, on paper, everything looks good, yet you still aren't happy. It's easy to get overwhelmed and discouraged; to not know what to do.

I'm a Marriage and Family Therapist formally trained in many approaches, including Gottman Method, Psychobiological Approach to Couples Therapy & Real Life Therapy.
Hi there. First, I'd like to wish you well, especially as you work with a psychotherapist. In the 13+ years that I've been practicing, I've learned that each person and each relationship is unique, so I've developed a variety of ways to approach psychotherapy and relationship therapy that help individuals to heal and help couples to relate. By working with thoughts and feelings, with mind and with heart, people can move through what is in the way, blocking them from feeling better and being better. I'm absolutely honored to help with that movement.

I love working with both individuals and couples! I believe everyone deserves to be happy and comfortable in mind, body, and relationships. Unfortunately, anxiety, stress, self-doubt, depression, and misunderstandings can knock you out of life’s driver’s seat. In my couples counseling work, I use EFT and the Gottman method to assist partners in healing patterns of miscommunication and disconnection. Couples learn to express their deepest feelings, respond rather than react, and make successful bids for connection.

Do you struggle with distressing thoughts, feelings, or relationships? I view these problems as both present and past, meaning what we learn early in life may be unknowingly affecting the way we behave in the present. Gottman Method Therapists

How does the Gottman method work?

One of the core doctrines of the Gottman method is that negative emotions hurt relationships about five times more than positive emotions help them. Thus, couples require five times more positive interactions than negative interactions with each other. The therapist will guide clients on how to improve communication and understanding of each other to manage conflict and have their emotional needs met. The therapist will also advise couples on how to repair relations with each other when conflict arises, and therefore avoid lasting damage.

Is the Gottman method evidence-based?

Yes, this method is an evidence-based approach to couples therapy. The method is based on more than 40 years of research by Drs. John and Julie Gottman, the psychologists who developed the method. The Gottmans analyzed decades of data to draw conclusions about what types of interactions are likely to lead to specific results, and which interventions are most likely to lead to success. Studies have found that this approach leads to improvements in relationship satisfaction, intimacy, communication skills, and a lower rate of divorce.

How long does the Gottman method take?

The duration of treatment depends on the specific challenges clients face. Sessions are typically 60 to 90 minutes long, and an average course of treatment is around 10 sessions. In some cases, such as for couples dealing with a critical problem, the therapist will suggest an intensive course of treatment, with daily sessions over the first two to four days. Treatment is complete when the couple is satisfied and has met the goals they’ve set, and when the therapist believes they have the skills to continue on their own.

Is the Gottman method effective?

Through the Gottman method, couples can achieve changes that are real and sustainable. This treatment has been used for more than 40 years; the method is supported by empirical research, including randomized controlled trials that have demonstrated effectiveness in improving relationship outcomes for couples. Like any talk therapy, success or failure depends in large part on how committed the clients are to making positive changes and working toward results.
