Developing a relationship with a compassionate, skilled therapist who can help you be present with current life stressors or past traumas, can be an important part of healing. In my practice I work with adults and adolescents with a variety of issues but specialize in issues related to sexual trauma (childhood or adult), childhood emotional/physical abuse, domestic violence, lack of parental attunement, and growing up in a home where alcohol and drugs were abused. I also work with couples who are experiencing challenges in communication, connection and how past trauma effects this. I provide clinical supervision to therapists.

In my work with clients, I have a multifaceted approach to therapy which includes: Gestalt Therapy, Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT), Client-Centered Counseling, and Adlerian.
Hello! I enjoy working with those who struggle with attention / focus (ADHD), anxieties and panic, identity and experiences related to Sports, grief and loss, disordered mood patterns, depression, and major life transitions/stress. My ideal client demographic is Adults and Teenagers. With my clients, I enjoy working collaboratively to support them in the changes they are pursuing — by helping them identify the triggers to their struggles, help build change towards handling their struggles, and to identify a reframe for their thinking patterns around those triggers.

A Licensed psychologist for over thirty years my style of therapy has transformed to a more experiential approach for my clients. Approaching therapy from a Gestalt perspective focusing on what's showing up in the "Here and Now" while guiding folks to enter an embodied self awareness. More recently I have embarked on a new journey to use horses as part of an Equine Facilitated Psychotherapy modality. Horses like all animals live in the here and now and show up to sessions from a very present focused moment and non judgmental relational curiosity joining folks in their healing process.

After serving in the field of mental health for 25 years, I have seen evidence of our work in the confidence and successes of my clients.

Many are ready to learn to navigate stress, life transitions, and struggles within their relationships with others and themselves. I work within the LGBTQIA+ community and provide an open and inclusive space to help ensure feelings of acceptance, safety, and affirmation. I am a certified Gestalt therapist and am now able to offer ketamine-assisted psychotherapy as a new tool for healing and depth work.
Accepting new patients in Fall ‘24. I work with those struggling with depression, relational issues, and those seeking ketamine-assisted psychotherapy and psychedelic integration. My work is deeply rooted in the ideas that all people have an innate need to be understood, the effects of trauma on the mind and body, and in making the unconscious conscious. We will become collaborators in thought to piece together past and present through an exploration of your experiences and what is happening “in the room” between us. Using the therapeutic relationship as a tool allows access to understanding your mind, history and relationships.

I use a combination of approaches from Person-Centered therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Gestalt and Positive Psychology, all of which will help you focus on changing your life in powerful ways.
Hi, I'm Gloria! Thank you for pausing here. Deciding to look for help was hard to begin with and finding the right helper seems even more difficult, I know. Whatever issues you are facing, perhaps its depression that is attached to your past, stress related to your present, or anxiety that is attaching itself to your future, I can help you work through it. It’s a privilege for me to be able to share lessons of hope and walk alongside my clients, until they have the breakthrough that they so desperately desire. My greatest joy is to see you step out from darkness into a brighter, lighter future – stronger, wiser, and hopeful!

Using Gestalt I facilitate healing experiences that develop a different way for a person to be with themselves and the world.
My goal is to help clients grow and develop tools to move through the challenges they encounter. I work to create a safe place for clients to learn alternative ways to manage the stressors and conflicts in life that lead to anxiety, depression, PTSD, helplessness and hopelessness. I have been greatly honored to journey with individuals, couples and families as they navigate the challenges they face, make sense of their lives and feel better. I am continually amazed by the human spirit and each person’s ability to overcome adversity, even horrendous trauma.

These range from psychodynamic to solution focused therapies, as well as EMDR, mindfulness, cognitive therapy, narrative therapy, and gestalt and existential techniques.
I believe that we all struggle with trauma, and most mental health challenges stem from how one adapts to these experiences. I specialize in working with trauma, identifying how it is held in the body, the strategies we uphold as defense mechanisms, and how to negotiate with our inner self to move toward a healthy healing of mind and body. Coming from either a top down approach for those thinker types, or a bottom up approach for those feeler types, we will compassionately reconnect the mind and body, in order to achieve relief and greater connectivity to self and others.

Gestalt Therapists
What is gestalt therapy?
Gestalt therapy is based on the idea that to address unresolved negative feelings, emotions must be not only discussed but also actively expressed in the present moment. The term is from a German word meaning “whole,” and gestalt therapists believe that people should be considered whole entities made up of mind, body, and emotions. Gestalt sessions are rooted in the notion that a client’s total self must be discovered, explored, and confronted, so that they can take greater responsibility for themselves and their behavior, learn to satisfy their own needs while still respecting the needs of others, and reconnect with feelings they might otherwise deny.
How does gestalt therapy work?
Gestalt therapy sessions do not just involve talking with a therapist. Clients may take part in role-playing, re-enactment, or artistic exercises like drawing and painting, with the goal of becoming more aware of negative thought patterns that limit happiness. One common gestalt exercise is “the empty chair,” in which a client sits across from an empty chair representing a partner, relative, boss, or a part of themselves—and, with the therapist’s encouragement, improvises a dialog with it. The intention is to bring the emotions raised by past conflicts into the present and work through them in the moment.
How long does gestalt therapy last?
As with most forms of talk therapy, there is no set duration or end point for gestalt therapy; people who believe that they are making progress typically continue until they feel they’ve addressed the issues that had been holding them back. New patients should understand that it may take some time to become comfortable with gestalt exercises but once they do, they should expect sessions to extend for a number of months, typically spanning at least 12 sessions.
Does gestalt therapy work?
Gestalt therapy has generally been found to be as effective as other forms of talk therapy in helping people living with anxiety, depression, phobias, bipolar disorder, and substance use disorders, as well as helping individuals reduce conflict in relationships. Gestalt techniques, on their own or in combination with other therapies, can also be effective in managing physical ailments including ulcerative colitis, migraines, and back spasms. It should be noted that some people may have trouble adapting to gestalt therapy’s lack of formal structure or to a therapist’s close observations of their body language and emotions; others may struggle to commit to techniques that feel unnatural, like the empty chair exercise.
