I believe the goal of psychotherapy is to produce lasting and meaningful change that promotes flourishing and fulfillment in our lives. The fundamental mechanism for this change is the establishment of a purposeful relationship, one that is predicated on compassion, empathy, non-judgement, and healthy boundaries. This relationship is a co-created, collaborative enterprise that strives towards an egalitarian and emotionally corrective dynamic. Together we will explore your conscious and unconscious fears, hopes, and dreams to better articulate a positive vision of the future, and then work towards making it a reality.
The process of therapeutic change is not often easy and can at times be unpleasant or emotionally trying. It requires trust, patience, vulnerability, and for many an eventual openness to being challenged and held accountable. I strongly believe that by embracing vulnerability and approaching adversity we can actively create positive change in our lives.
I use a relational psychodynamic approach to therapy, and also incorporate mindfulness and spirituality into treatment. I have experience working with individuals who struggle with depression, anxiety, histories of trauma and PTSD, personality disorders, the issues of men and boys, substance abuse, relationship and marital issues, and life transitions.
