My goal is to empower, teach effective coping mechanism, and help the consumer develop a better understanding of self. I have over seven years of experience in the behavioral health field. While treating individuals for medically assisted treatment, substance abuse, and process addictions ( examples: gambling, shopping, pornography), I came to understand the importance of treating co-occurring disorders ( examples: anxiety, depression,PTSD). Therefore, I obtained a M.S in Counseling from The Johns Hopkins University.
I use a combination of techniques from various theoretical approaches ( Adlerian, Gestalt, Ellis, and Frankl) that matches the need of the consumer. I can be described as eclectic when it comes to techniques, while my foundation for consumer care is rooted in mindfulness and cognitive behavioral therapy.
I believe the most important factor in improving the consumer’s well-being is the therapeutic relationship. Therefore, I strive to create a warm, compassionate, and accepting environment that encourages the consumer to feel safe enough to take the journey of self discovery towards healing.
