Psychotherapy offers a unique opportunity to better understand oneself, others, our contexts and histories, and the interplay among these elements. While some patients come to me seeking relief from concrete symptoms of anxiety, depression, or low self-esteem, others wish to wrest themselves from a more opaque sense of disconnection, emptiness, or dissatisfaction. Regardless of what brings you to psychotherapy, I offer a space that is warm, empathically attuned, collaborative, and that offers the necessary factors to both promote insight and, more importantly, move you towards a new, fulfilling experience of yourself and life.
It was Frida Fromm-Reichmann who said that "the patient is in need of an experience, not an explanation." This observation has guided me in my practice. While insight into our difficulties' origins is clarifying and often involves exploration of the past, such exploration without new experiences often fails to provide the deep and lasting change we seek.
I provide intensive psychotherapy to adult individuals with a wide range of concerns, many of whom who have not experienced relief from other therapies. My approach is integrative, experiential, and psychodynamic. I also maintain a strong focus on couples work, particularly with high-conflict couples and those grappling with the impacts of complex trauma.
