I embrace the belief that every client contains, deeply within their own subconscious mind, the key to their own healing and well-being. The answers are never out there, but instead are inside you waiting to be discovered. I am deeply committed to the path of the heart and I feel privileged to be a part of each individual’s process of healing, which I consider to be a sacred task. I believe we all have the power to heal, no matter how deep our wounds may be!

For over 35 years, as both a fertility psychologist and OB/GYN with a strong interest in infertility, I have loved helping people on their fertility journey. Are you on a fertility journey? Have you experienced obstacles along the way? Perhaps nothing is as disempowering as struggling with fertility. For many of us, issues with fertility mark the first time that we've wanted our bodies to do something that they seem not capable of doing. Challenges with fertility are traumatic experiences. Is it any wonder why we may be struggling?

My special interests include religious trauma, parenting, grief and loss, ansiety, highly sensitive people, codependency, spirituality, infertility and mother-daugther relationship therapy.
Hi, I'm Amy. Therapy is a way to honor and care for yourself and I'm glad that you are doing so. Whether you are going through a difficult time or your daily life has you unsettled, I am here to help. If you are "just getting through" each day and feeling overwhelmed, please know I understand. If you are grieving a loss and finding it hard to cope, I have been there too. Life's inevitable difficulties brought me to a place that inspired me to help others going through similar circumstances. My goal is to help you get through the hard stuff and find more peace and harmony in your life.

My areas of specialty include: infertility, unplanned/unwanted pregnancy, grief/loss, birth trauma, anxiety, stress/burnout, parent adjustments, and reconnecting intimacy.
Are you struggling with transitioning into new roles and overwhelmed with responsibilities as a new parent? Do you find yourself feeling alone or pressured to follow society’s high expectational stigma of what it means to be a good parent? Want to rekindle your relationship and sex life with your partner after the adjustment of having a baby but not sure where to start? Do you experience low desire or sexual struggles when it comes to sex, or even find it a “chore” to check off your list?

Anxiety, depression, ADHD, infertility, divorce, LGBTQ, adoption, parenting, pre-marital counseling.
We all struggle with the inevitable trials of being human. You may be a parent or partner in a significant relationship struggling with connection, and in need of both practical and emotional support. At times, feelings of anxiety, apathy, and depression arise, and feelings of disconnection and loneliness can take hold. For others, we may be at a crossroads in our life, brought about by divorce, relocation, caregiving for a loved one, or a desire to have a bigger impact in our communities and the world. We may be asking ourselves BIG questions, “what’s next”, “what should I do”, and “what do I want from life”.

As a psychotherapist and mother I whole heartedly say parenthood isn't easy. Talking about your hopes, fears, and worries can be really helpful. There are shifts both physically & emotionally during this time as well as struggles with choices that are difficult including childcare, work, identity issues, and creating a support system. Sorting through what's useful & important is tough. Child loss, miscarriage, peri/postpartum anxiety, depression, and psychosis are hard to go through alone. I additionally specialize in helping women process reproductive issues like menopause, infertility, & contemplation around abortion.

I view my clients as fellow human beings in search of some type of change. For one reason or another, they feel stuck or unable to get where they want. Together we work towards growth by identifying the issues involved, establishing hopes and goals, and increasing awareness of recurring patterns that maintain dysfunction. I find that often these patterns were somehow adaptive, but are now "outdated" for life's current situation. As awareness of one's desires, perceptions, fears, and strengths increase, doors often begin to open. There are more options and more opportunities for change and connection with others.

Everybody deserves to have the opportunity to feel that they're allowed to experience what they've experienced... and know they're not crazy... To be heard. I hope to provide a safe and nurturing space where healing and growth can occur. I like to view psychotherapy and the therapeutic relationship as having a personal trainer for your emotional well being and personal life. It can teach relational skills and promote healing. It requires a commitment to yourself and serves as an investment. The return on that investment can be achieving goals, growth, and emotional satisfaction.

Infertility Therapists
How can infertility affect couples and their relationship?
Clients who are dealing with infertility may experience conflict and communication problems. It’s not unusual for shame, blame, and guilt to arise in cases of infertility, whether the source of the problem is one partner or both. This means that clients are upset and pulling away from their partner just when they need them the most. Some clients may find it difficult to spend time around friends and family who are pregnant. Friends and family can also make hurtful comments that increase tension during this time.
How does therapy for infertility issues work?
The therapist will begin by gathering information about the client or couple and make a treatment plan for their specific concerns. In addition to addressing common mental health issues, such as anxiety, depression, and trauma reactions or PTSD, therapists can help clients improve their decision-making and deal with stressors unique to infertility. Some examples include coping with the “two-week wait” before a pregnancy test, the distress associated with a failed attempt or miscarriage, and the shame and blame sometimes associated with reproductive concerns.
What type of therapy is best for infertility issues?
Many therapists offer psychotherapy for individuals and couples who are dealing with infertility issues. Some helpful therapeutic approaches include cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), which can aid clients in reframing negative thoughts about their situation. Expressive writing and art therapy can help clients process difficult feelings. Clients might also benefit from group therapy to experience support from others who are dealing with the same problems.
How long does therapy for infertility issues take?
There is no set length for therapy that addresses infertility or reproductive concerns. Some clients might find it helpful to continue therapy during their pregnancy to have healthy ways to cope with any associated stress, anxiety, depression, or trauma. Some clients who decide not to pursue fertility treatments might benefit from the support of a therapist. The duration of therapy varies depending on the individual client’s specific needs and goals.
