My name is Chrishina J. Scott. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and have 15 years of experience in clinical mental health. I work with adults ages 18 and older who have Life Transitions, Stress, Anxiety, Women's Issues, and Coping Skills. My primary treatment approach is Solution Focused Brief Therapy. However, I am skilled in utilizing other treatment modalities to help you reach your goals, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Person-Centered Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Supportive Therapy. I am passionate about the work that I do and always see the possibility of health and happiness in others. I have worked with domestic violence victims since 2001 and have expertise in this area. I work with children, adolescents and adults. I partnered with several organizations locally over the years such as the Juvenile Wellness Court, Rape Crisis Center (PARC), and the Child Advocacy Center. I especially enjoy helping adolescents and parents communicate and operate in a healthier way.

The changes everyone is faced with today; especially since COVID-19, are causing people to feel lost and uncertain as to how to move forward. Your teen may be struggling with disordered eating, making decisions, and their social network. Your adolescent may be experiencing an increase in stress and anxiety due to the uncertainty of the future. You may be questioning your beliefs; exploring alternative practices. You need additional guidance and exploration to feel better and self-actualize. We can help you with this.

Change is hard, particularly when feeling hopeless and overwhelmed. I want to help you overcome the feelings of fear, guilt, and shame that interfere with your ability to be present and have a vital, fulfilling life. I specialize in helping adolescents and young adults who have experienced trauma, or are struggling with issues related to mental health, including depression, anxiety, and post traumatic stress disorder. I help clients recognize their natural resources and potential they already possess. My ultimate goal is to help individuals and families find healing and wholeness.

Everyone could use someone to talk with that doesn't have (as my grandmother would say) "a dog in the fight". My ideal client would need someone to listen to them and have the desire to work together with me to create the change they wish to see in their life. Their goal would be to create a lasting change. Since lasting change can take time, my ideal client would be willing to put in the work and time this lasting change will require.

I have worked extensively with adolescents, at risk children, and adults who suffer from anxiety, depression, anger management issues, self-esteem issues, behavioral issues, and substance abuse issues. I also work with children and adults who have suffered trauma and experience symptoms of PTSD, ADHD, and ADD. I sometimes incorporate physical activity into the therapeutic process. This "active therapy" can be especially helpful in working with issues of self esteem, anxiety, depression, and addiction. In addition to "active therapy", I have also found that meditation and mindfulness can be especially helpful for children who have trouble with focus and concentration.

I am a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC) and a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) for the State of Georgia. I enjoy working with clients who are facing problems with infertility, women's issues, or loss of a child. Previously, I have worked with a variety of clients, but decided to focus solely on women's health after experiencing my own miscarriage and subsequent infertility issues. My treatment approach is holistic and eclectic. I believe that therapy should never be a "one-size fit all" approach. Everyone heals differently and my goal is to personalize my approach to optimize your growth and overall well-being.

I am a licensed Professional. I completed a BS degree in Psychology and Sociology from Georgia State University in 1998. I completed an MS degree in Psychology from the University of Phoenix, Atlanta, in 2009. I completed a MA degree in Community Counseling with a concentration in Marriage and Family from Argosy University in 2014. I work with a diverse population of Mental Health, Substance Abuse, and Dually diagnosed individuals aged 04 to 65+. I am, LPC, LCADC, ACS, BC-TMH a clinical psychotherapist with more than 19 years of experience in providing mental health services to adults, couple and families. A champion for the rights of those with mental illness, I have also served as the Director of New Jersey Mental Health Services for a few non – profit organizations, Hospital settings – ER, DETOX, Inpatient, IOP, outpatient services and have also worked with the Superior Courts of NJ advocating for the needs of children, adolescents young adults and families in crisis. The main psychotherapeutic models I use are Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) and systemic therapy.
