I view my clients as fellow human beings in search of some type of change. For one reason or another, they feel stuck or unable to get where they want. Together we work towards growth by identifying the issues involved, establishing hopes and goals, and increasing awareness of recurring patterns that maintain dysfunction. I find that often these patterns were somehow adaptive, but are now "outdated" for life's current situation. As awareness of one's desires, perceptions, fears, and strengths increase, doors often begin to open. There are more options and more opportunities for change and connection with others.

It is my joy and passion to help others in life. I enjoy working with children of all ages. I have experience in Autism, ADHD, ODD, Depression, Anxiety, foster care/adoption, couples counseling, teenage life struggles, adult/women's issues, and general phase of life adjustments.

I am excited to connect with people who find themselves ready for a change, but perhaps unsure of how to make that happen for themselves. I enjoy helping people explore all parts of their life to help make sense of present situations and to make a plan for a healthier future. This can look like discussing nutrition, exercise, emotional intelligence, past relationships and family dynamics, as well as a myriad of other topics. I prioritize a holistic approach for not only my clients, but for my own life as well and have personally experienced healthy change from this perspective.

My main focus is to help clients identify and build on their personal strengths so they can overcome the obstacles preventing them from realizing their full potential. My first priority when I meet with a client is to collaboratively establish therapy goals and determine what they would like to attain from the counseling process. Based on this information I personalize each session to help my clients achieve their goals. With every interaction, my goal is always the same: that you leave my office feeling that you were heard and validated.

I treat a variety of issues such as PTSD, ADHD, ODD, OCD, eating disorders, anxiety, depression, suicidal ideations, self-esteem issues, substance use, trauma, and behavioral issues. I strive to help children/teens becoming caring, loving, functional adults with a positive self-image and healthy emotional expression. In my work with adolescents, I help them to achieve life goals, build self-esteem, and healthy peer relationships. For adults with substance use I work with the client to find a path to sobriety by treating the underlying cause, using their inner strengths to support them.

Sarah believes that each client is the author of his or her own life experiences, and has the capability of maneuvering and pushing forward through circumstances in life. She recognizes it can be difficult and scary learning and implementing the tools needed to accomplish fears and worries. "It's like exercising a new muscle. It may hurt and get sore by working-out, but the muscle grows stronger the more effort you put into working on it." She has extensively researched the concept of empathy to help clients work through their trauma to develop secure attachment styles as well as understanding perspectives and co-dependency actions.

Dr. Cantor obtained his Masters and Doctorates in Psychology at the State University of New York at Stony Brook with special interests in Developmental Neuropsychology. He is trained in Clinical Psychopharmacology and holds Diplomates from the American Board of Forensic Examiners, International Academy of Behavioral Medicine, Counseling, and Psychotherapy, and Fellow Status of the Academy of Learning and Developmental Disorders, and the American Board of Psychological Specialties - Neuropsychology, and the National Acadenmy of Neuropsychology. He is a specialist with Developmental Disorder such as ADHD and Autism, Neurotrauma, Biological factors underlying Depression, and Forensics.

Jennifer is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with over a decade of experience. She completed her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Southern Wesleyan University in South Carolina and completed her Masters of Family Therapy degree from Mercer University School of Medicine. She is trained in Emotionally Focused Therapy, Gottman Level 1 & 2, and PREPARE-Enrich to help couples & families have great relationships.

My training in marriage and family therapy, sex therapy, and addictionology and over two decades of experience provide the background to help you with your marriage and sexual issues. The majority of clients in my practice are couples rebuilding emotional and physical intimacy after an affair or sexual addiction. Couples with other sexual issues (especially sexual desire, painful sex, inability to orgasm or unconsummated marriages), couples falling out of love, and couples struggling to communicate also find help in my office.

I have provided counseling services in several different settings since 1996. I began my career as an Elementary School Counselor, I have worked as a Family Counselor in an addictions program, and as a Child and Adolescent Counselor in a community mental health center. I took some time off in order to be with my two children full-time. After my children entered school, I decided to resume my professional career and went into private practice.
