While it is my joy to support all moms, I'm able to offer additional insights and strategies to moms struggling with ADHD in themselves or in their children.
Motherhood comes with unparalleled joy and often intense doubt, guilt, and stress that can lead to feelings of anxiety or depression. Moms frequently carry the mental load of the family, keeping track of dates, details, and everyone's needs... except their own. Self-care is critical, but easily falls by the wayside. I. SEE. YOU. In my counseling office, you have a sacred and safe space to process emotions, be encouraged, discuss parenting challenges, develop new coping strategies, and create organizational systems that will help things run more smoothly. Your needs and goals define how we use our time together.

I help clients 'figure it out'. i.e. identify goals and potential solutions to problems which cause emotional stress and confusion. I use Cognitive Behavior Theory and also eclectic methods but these are just methods or tools that

I believe counseling is a tool that allows for people to uncover inwardly what is being expressed outwardly. Counseling can be insightful and beneficial, but also challenging and raw and real. I strive to be on the counseling journey with my clients as a co-pilot of sorts, allowing them to take the lead on their own emotional and personal growth.

We often hear the phrase “In life, there are no guarantees.” However, that’s not completely accurate. One thing that is inevitable in life is that there will be change. Sometimes it is subtle, small in comparison to the grand scheme of the things we are facing. At other times, change hits us with the force of a ton of bricks, stopping us in our tracks and negatively impacting our daily lives. It is at these times that our mental, emotional, and physical health becomes susceptible to life's stressors and where we may suffer a decline in our quality of life. You don't have to face these times alone.

I believe to truly support those around you, you must first be found. Initially, I did not set out to become a therapist. What life experiences ultimately taught me is that you and I were meant for more than what I originally had in store for us. And the purpose I have found since being in this field is remarkable. I most look forward to adding value to your life by creating a safe, unbiased environment, assisting you with creating change at your own pace, and improving your overall quality of living.

ADHD Therapists
When should I seek treatment for ADHD?
You should seek treatment for ADHD if you consistently have difficulty with attention, hyperactivity, or impulsivity that interferes with your daily life. Symptoms of ADHD include the inability to sustain attention during tasks, difficulty organizing tasks and activities, being easily distracted, frequent fidgeting or squirming, and talking or interrupting excessively. If these symptoms interfere with your career, academics, or relationships—for example, consistently failing to complete professional projects on time—you should seek an evaluation for ADHD.
How does treatment for ADHD work?
Effective treatment for ADHD often consists of medication, behavioral therapy, and lifestyle changes. Stimulant medications such as Adderall and Ritalin work by altering levels of neurotransmitters in the brain; higher levels of dopamine and norepinephrine are known to improve attention and focus. Therapy works by helping people with ADHD understand the condition, discuss their areas of difficulty, and develop behavioral strategies to manage their symptoms. In some cases, modifying one’s diet and exercise can also help improve symptoms.
Are there specific medications for ADHD?
Medications to treat ADHD are generally stimulants, the most common are Adderall and Ritalin. There are two categories of stimulants: Amphetamines include Adderall, Dyanavel, Vyvanse, and Dexedrine, and methylphenidates include Ritalin, Concerta, Daytrana, Focalin, Quillichew, Quillivant, and Metadate. Non-stimulants and antidepressants may be used as an alternative if stimulants aren’t effective or viable for a particular patient.
How long does treatment for ADHD take?
It’s tough to give an exact time frame because everyone varies. In terms of medications, stimulants begin to work very soon after you take them, generally within the hour. It may take time to identify the right medication and dosage, but the medication itself is fast-acting. In terms of therapy, it takes time to develop skills and put them into practice, but you will likely see improvements within a few weeks or months.
