I work with children and teens who are struggling with grief, trauma, self-esteem, depression and anxiety and help those who want to improve coping skills and ADHD management skills.
Kierkegaard said life wasn't a problem to be solved but a reality to be experienced. We will always experience joys and pain, strength and sorrow, and a little support can go a long way. As a therapist, I am not here to solve life's problems for you, but I am here to support you and your family while you experience the hard parts of life. I'm here to listen to and validate your world and help you develop skills or tools to cope with the tough times.

Life can be just the worst. We can deal with crippling depression, paralyzing anxiety, or destructive anger. We can experience symptoms that are very much a part of us, like with ADHD, that can get in the way of our day to day. On the flip side life can also be fulfilling, humorous, and joyful. Not without it's sufferings life can be something meaning filled.

My areas of specialization include queer-identifying clients, ASD/ ADHD, anxiety, depression, trauma, and somatic therapy.
Thank you for taking the time to read my profile, I’m glad you’re here. As your therapist, it's my intent to guide you toward deeper understanding of yourself and give you the opportunity to process your emotions in a safe, empathetic environment. Anxiety, depression, and trauma can take up so much space in your life that it makes it hard to have patience, connect with loved ones, and focus on your responsibilities and passions. In therapy with me, we can gently challenge unhealthy thought patterns and establish healthier coping skills to lessen the power these issues hold over you.

Understanding, empowering and compassionate neurodevelopmental assessment and therapy, for adults with ADHD, with low motivation, organization and procrastination, with perfectionism, bumpy emotions and moods, self criticism and anxiety with disconnection, shame and not quite trusting yourself.
There’s probably plenty that works about your life, parts that you want to protect at all costs - and you still know that you’re really effing far from okay. For adults with ADHD, therapy can provide relief and steps forward, from you putting words to your pain and letting it be heard by someone who believes you, from learning how your brain works in patterned ways, and from turning toward things you’ve been running from. How your brain works may not be typical, but I'm here for it, with experience, realistic options, compassion and appreciation. You can live, not just keep fighting with your thoughts and feelings.

When should I seek treatment for ADHD?

You should seek treatment for ADHD if you consistently have difficulty with attention, hyperactivity, or impulsivity that interferes with your daily life. Symptoms of ADHD include the inability to sustain attention during tasks, difficulty organizing tasks and activities, being easily distracted, frequent fidgeting or squirming, and talking or interrupting excessively. If these symptoms interfere with your career, academics, or relationships—for example, consistently failing to complete professional projects on time—you should seek an evaluation for ADHD.

How does treatment for ADHD work?

Effective treatment for ADHD often consists of medication, behavioral therapy, and lifestyle changes. Stimulant medications such as Adderall and Ritalin work by altering levels of neurotransmitters in the brain; higher levels of dopamine and norepinephrine are known to improve attention and focus. Therapy works by helping people with ADHD understand the condition, discuss their areas of difficulty, and develop behavioral strategies to manage their symptoms. In some cases, modifying one’s diet and exercise can also help improve symptoms.

Are there specific medications for ADHD?

Medications to treat ADHD are generally stimulants, the most common are Adderall and Ritalin. There are two categories of stimulants: Amphetamines include Adderall, Dyanavel, Vyvanse, and Dexedrine, and methylphenidates include Ritalin, Concerta, Daytrana, Focalin, Quillichew, Quillivant, and Metadate. Non-stimulants and antidepressants may be used as an alternative if stimulants aren’t effective or viable for a particular patient.

How long does treatment for ADHD take?

It’s tough to give an exact time frame because everyone varies. In terms of medications, stimulants begin to work very soon after you take them, generally within the hour. It may take time to identify the right medication and dosage, but the medication itself is fast-acting. In terms of therapy, it takes time to develop skills and put them into practice, but you will likely see improvements within a few weeks or months.
