Life is a journey! During this process, you may experience emotional and psychological distress, spiritual imbalances, physical ailments and relationship challenges. I believe each individual possesses the capacity to use internal and external resources to achieve a balanced level of living. In my role as a therapist, I work with issues related to depression, anxiety, substance use, coping skills, self-esteem, relationships, and grief. I view therapy as a "collaborative process" designed to be one of many resources to assist you in achieving your identified goals.

The relationship is the third party, hers, his, and ours.
In our world with so many ways and/or devices to keep us close or connected, why are we so ‘disconnected’. Why are our relationships in shambles? Sometimes we need support, encouragement, and guidance to help us get through the hard times. As your therapist, it is my responsibility to work myself out of a job. To give you some things that will help you deal with the difficulties now, as well as the ones you will encounter in the future. I use various methods and ways to support and encourage a better way of living. When we are hurt, we often act in ways that are self-protecting, but are detrimental to the relationship.

Let’s face it. There's a lot going on in the world today; enough to bring anyone to their “breaking point.” In this fast-paced society there’s hardly any time to focus on self when the demand of a career, family, relationship all seem to pull on you. Have you been feeling like this lately? Do you know how to take care of yourself? Do you feel as if you are in a maze and can't figure your way out? Have your emotions been “all over the place?” If you answered yes to any of those questions, it’s time to talk. Let’s work together to learn how to create space for self-care and live a healthier more balanced life.

In order for the therapeutic process to be effective and beneficial, the client-counselor relationship is paramount.
While many of the things life throws at us can be challenging and painful, they can also become a catalyst to showcase our strengths, resiliency, and opportunity for growth. I feel that our experiences, both positive and negative, help shape who we are, and make us unique. Through counseling, developing a better understanding of our histories, along with the connection to this and current functioning in various aspects of our lives; we can greatly enhance insight into ourselves as to why we do what we do.

“If you don’t make time to work on creating the life you want, you’re eventually going to be forced to spend a LOT of time dealing with a life you don’t want.” (Kevin Ngo) Do you find yourself making time for everything and everyone, but find it challenging to take the time to solely focus on your own compassionate care? So many of us prioritize the loving care of our family and friends while neglecting to tend to ourselves - as though we are our own most treasured other.

Relationship Issues Therapists
While need for human connection appears to be innate, the ability to form healthy, loving relationships is learned. Some evidence suggests that the ability to form a stable relationship starts to form in infancy, in a child's earliest experiences with a caregiver who reliably meets the infant's needs for food, care, warmth, protection, stimulation, and social contact. Such relationships are not destiny, but they are theorized to establish deeply ingrained patterns of relating to others. The end of a relationship, however, is often a source of great psychological anguish.
