I am an experienced psychotherapist with over 30 years of expertise in the field. Throughout my career, I have dedicated myself to studying and practicing various therapeutic modalities, including Psychodynamic therapy, Gestalt, Expressive Arts, Somatic Therapy, EMDR, Grief therapy, and Trauma therapy. My true passion lies in working with those who are living with dissociation and plurality. I am proud to serve on the board of An Infinite Mind and offer Creative Journaling workshops and a Creative Explorations series on zoom for people Living with Dissociation.

With over 25 years of experience in counseling, I currently treat children and adolescents ages 4-16 and provide family therapy to help my clients succeed at home, at school and in their social lives. I use multi-sensory approaches, including activity based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, sand tray therapy, and expressive arts, I use biofeedback and neurofeedback programs for ADHD, and DIR FloorTime for social development and autism. My clinic focuses on a student/educational approach, rather than medical, and therapy is viewed as a learning process, rather than a treatment. I use connected therapy for adoption/foster care.

Jonita is LGBTQIA+ affirming, utilizes emotional intelligence when working with clients and specializes in wholistic multidisciplinary approaches to achieve mental health and overall wellness. Jonita's favorite therapy modalities are experiential therapy, mindfulness based practices. She completed her undergraduate degree in Human Services from Saint Leo University and earned her Masters of Social Work with a focus on mental health and wellness from Clark Atlanta University. Jonita is also a human services board certified practioner, who wholeheartedly believes that mental health practice is what she is purposed and meant to do.

The core beliefs I use throughout my sessions include unconditional positive regard, providing a nonjudgmental environment , being unapologetically authentic, using a more holistic approach, and a whole lot of mindfulness training. I am a huge proponent of Ayurvedic naturopathic remedies and use these ancient teachings in my practice on a daily basis. I try to teach my clients and encourage them to be the best versions of themselves for themselves. I also like to remind my clients of their own strengths to help them cultivate the life of their dreams and accomplish the goals we set together within the sessions as a team.
