Are you at a crossroads in your life? You know something has to change, but you're not sure how to go about making that happen. Maybe your child is struggling in school, and you are at your wit's end as to how to help. Maybe you are battling an addiction that you want to change but don't know how. Maybe you have found yourself in a place you never expected to be with new life circumstances you have no idea how to handle. You know you need support to help you navigate this place you have found yourself, but no one in your life gets it.

Hello, I am Tina Taylor (LPC006127), and I enjoy helping others make significant changes in their lives. It would be a pleasure to work alongside you in challenging thoughts, feelings, and behaviors (CBT) that keep you from the quality of life you desire. You have come so far already‚ let's walk together to a new way of living. I approach therapy as a journey the client and counselor take together. The client is the driver and directs the course of therapy. As the counselor, I aid clients in arriving at a destination by providing strategies and interventions to help change perspectives.

Are you grappling with addiction, struggling with relationships affected by unresolved trauma, or facing significant life challenges? Do you often feel anxious, unable to sleep through the night? Perhaps you're burdened by feelings of shame, guilt, or emotional turmoil. If you're considering a change or feeling stuck, unsure of life's meaning, you don't have to face these struggles alone.

I enjoy working with a wide range of client populations and the challenges faced by each. When asked "what kind of clients" I see in my practice, my answer is always the same, that "I see normal people with normal problems." My goal is to provide a safe, therapeutic environment where one can share their innermost struggles and challenges without feeling judged or criticized, since it is my philosophy that we are all transforming and evolving from each experience or trial that we face. It is also my passion to empower each client with education, confidence and self-awareness.

Does it matter what gender my therapist is?
In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.
Should I see a female therapist?
Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.
Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?
Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.
How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?
It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
