We are a Men's Intensive Outpatient Program, and Partial Hospitalization program, specializing in primary substance abuse clients.
You deserve a life full of possibilities, and the ability to be fully present, and hopeful. Let’s talk. You can have this life, full of balance, peace, and joy. Therapy is a two-way street, with your experience, and expertise in your own life driving the car. Therapy doesn’t have to be painful. Together, we will explore the strengths you are already using in parts of your life and learn to leverage these strengths to support you in recovering from stress, illness, and to improve relationships, work stress, and other concerns, such as trauma, addiction, depression, and anxiety. Our work will help find meaning and purpose.

This approach, while de manding, usually produces very positive results for my clients.
Feeling frustrated and stuck with a situation and are ready for change? I utilize and integrate several different approaches to psychotherapy. Typically I use behavioral approaches with children and more analytic approaches with adults. I believe strongly in progress and engage clients in ways that produce tangible and positive outcomes. My ideal client is eager for change and realizes therapy is an active, action oriented process which I can help them achieve.

My training has been eclectic, I have had exposure to many types of therapeutic and coaching modalities.
All of us have had many transitions throughout our lifetime. These transitions can be experienced as positive, neutral or negative. My belief is that all of these passages are opportunities for change and growth. For these reasons I enjoy working with individuals and couples that are in transition .

I seek to provide a safe therapeutic space that honors your experiences and assists you in achieving your goals. I resonate with Carl Rogers, who wrote, “When I accept myself as I am, then I can change.” I see counseling as a process of healing that invites you to tell your story without shame, build on your strengths, and discover untapped internal resources in collaboration with a professional guide. As you author the next chapter of your life, a transformation is possible where you move from surviving to thriving.

When challenges and stumbling blocks come our way, it can be liberating to find a non-judgmental, confidential space to process anything significant. I call that 'sacred space'—a time where you can bring your authentic self, express whatever is in your heart, and start a journey toward wellness and mental health. Counseling is not always an easy or linear journey, but when we dive into the messiness of life, we can find liberation and freedom. You do not need to do this alone. I am committed to journeying with clients along the process, offering support rooted in study, training, and clinical practice.

I believe that one of the biggest stumbling blocks of hu manity is that we overthink almost everything.
OPEN availability: Tuesdays 11:00 - 1:00 Thursdays 10:00 - 1:00. I would like to help anyone who feels frustrated with the state of their life. I have worked extensively with people suffering from trauma, especially domestic violence, and sexual trauma. I love working on Men's issues. During my practice, I found that Toxic Masculinity is maybe the biggest contributor to psychological issues in men. So, I started the only group for Male Survivors of Sexual Abuse in Northern Georgia.

Male Therapists

As a man, why might I want to see a male therapist?

There are many reasons a man might wish to work with a male therapist, including a degree of shared identity, which may help client and therapist connect to each other and allow for a more free-flowing discussion of issues that can be deeply personal. Some men may feel more comfortable talking to a male therapist about relationship concerns, the pressures they feel around the roles society and family place on men, career or job challenges, self-esteem, or anger problems. For some men who have not had a male role models in their lives, a good male therapist may be especially helpful.

How can I find out about a therapist’s experience treating men?

Individuals looking for treatment should feel comfortable directly asking a therapist about their history treating men overall and the issues that arise in therapy with men. A good therapist will be happy to discuss such matters as well as their educational background, approach to treatment, and how they think they can aid a prospective client. Prospective clients should also ask what the expectation is for treatment, and what the fee structure is, and whether and which insurance plans are accepted.

Can clients benefit from having a therapist of the same gender?

Therapy is not gender-specific, but some men as well as women feel more comfortable opening up about their experiences and history with a male therapist. An individual may feel that they have to explain less background information and be on the same page more quickly, particularly when discussing gender-specific challenges, in the case of male clients. Some women have prior negative experiences with women that predispose them to prefer working with a male in therapy. That said, a good clinician can transcend most if not all gender concerns. Ultimately, the most important factor in therapy is the connection and trust the client is able to build with the practitioner.

Would a male therapist have specific training in treating men?

Generally, no. There are no certifications for treating men specifically, but there are continuing education classes that therapists may take that focus on treating men as a group. There are many therapists who focus on men and male issues in their treatment and therefore have experience and expertise in this domain.
