As a therapist, I am dedicated to helping you achieve your goals and improve the quality of your life. My approach to counseling is eclectic/integrative and based upon a person’s individual needs while being empathetic, non-judgmental, and easy to talk to. I primarily draw upon cognitive-behavioral therapy, hu manism, systems theory, strengths-based theory, trauma-informed care, and psychoeducation.
Since graduating from the University of Georgia and entering the field in 2010, I have gathered broad clinical experience in both the United States and the United Kingdom.

My love of counseling stems from an intense desire to act as a catalyst in the process of helping clients achieve their goals. I believe that the counseling relationship is unique in that the counselor is only as successful as the client. The symbiotic relationship between counselor and client should be made up of trust, acceptance, respect, and a desire to mutually work hard to create a more fulfilling life.

Life moves fast, and it can hit hard. We all get bruised. Whether your problem is feeling caught in a loveless relationship, trapped in a job you don't like, lost, addicted--or even just generally unfulfilled and wanting more--feeling stuck or hopeless doesn't have to be a way of life. It's my goal to help you discover solutions that are right for you. I'm a professionally trained, licensed, and experienced therapist--but a realistic, logical, and heartfelt hu man being most of all.

For my ideal patient, issues pertaining to depression, anxiety, hopelessness, low self esteem, negative/low mindset, lack of self confidence as well as unwillingness to learn/be teachable are some factors that militates against an individual's progress. These identified issues often result to certain needs such as undesired behavior, self pity expectation, avoidance, searching to fill an empty void within, need of wanting to belong and be accepted etc. Based on these presenting problems, I hope to see my clients begin to believe in "A reset in life "

Sleep is a wonderful thing when you can do it well. Many individuals who struggle with sleeping find themselves doing everything they can to get a better snooze, but nothing seems to help, which often leads to anxiety, frustration, and depression.

Hu man suffering and pain is not abnormal, and when we experience it, we feel overwhelmed, confused and lost.
All of us have found ourselves at some point feeling stuck - wanting our story to look different, but without the tools and experiences to make that happen. As a therapist with over 14 years of professional experience, I believe growth happens best combined with compassion, gentle challenge, creativity & humor. Understanding that what happens to us impacts our mind and our body, I individualize treatment which addresses mind, body and experiences. I provide a safe space to create healthy thoughts, attitudes, & behaviors along with the tools to sustain them. I work with adolescents & adults in individual, couples, & family sessions.

Battling addiction and depression is a lonely place. It is hard for our family and friends to understand the internal struggle. Addiction is a safe haven from the chaos in the world around us. But at the same time, it is our addiction that keeps us from living our best lives. As a Certified Master Addiction Counselor, I know what it is like to live in fear of your next drink or gambling game. You want relief from your pain but are unsure where to find it outside of your addiction. I understand and have years of experience working with individuals and their families living with addition and family discord.

My ideal client has co-occurring issues. I have treated individuals with both mental health issues, trauma and addictions. One can't get well if both issues aren't addressed as both are primary. I find that this approach is successful in healing the mind and body.

You live in your head and it’s often difficult to put words to how you feel. Your mind is plagued with questions that silently weigh you down. “What is going on with me?” “Where am I messing up?” “Am I on the right path?” “How do I quiet my mind?” You’ve reached the peak and you’re ready for relief. Let’s talk. I can help you figure out how you got where you are and how to untangle everything, so you feel like you’re finally (back) in control of your life. Relief is not as far away as it may seem.

Male Therapists

As a man, why might I want to see a male therapist?

There are many reasons a man might wish to work with a male therapist, including a degree of shared identity, which may help client and therapist connect to each other and allow for a more free-flowing discussion of issues that can be deeply personal. Some men may feel more comfortable talking to a male therapist about relationship concerns, the pressures they feel around the roles society and family place on men, career or job challenges, self-esteem, or anger problems. For some men who have not had a male role models in their lives, a good male therapist may be especially helpful.

How can I find out about a therapist’s experience treating men?

Individuals looking for treatment should feel comfortable directly asking a therapist about their history treating men overall and the issues that arise in therapy with men. A good therapist will be happy to discuss such matters as well as their educational background, approach to treatment, and how they think they can aid a prospective client. Prospective clients should also ask what the expectation is for treatment, and what the fee structure is, and whether and which insurance plans are accepted.

Can clients benefit from having a therapist of the same gender?

Therapy is not gender-specific, but some men as well as women feel more comfortable opening up about their experiences and history with a male therapist. An individual may feel that they have to explain less background information and be on the same page more quickly, particularly when discussing gender-specific challenges, in the case of male clients. Some women have prior negative experiences with women that predispose them to prefer working with a male in therapy. That said, a good clinician can transcend most if not all gender concerns. Ultimately, the most important factor in therapy is the connection and trust the client is able to build with the practitioner.

Would a male therapist have specific training in treating men?

Generally, no. There are no certifications for treating men specifically, but there are continuing education classes that therapists may take that focus on treating men as a group. There are many therapists who focus on men and male issues in their treatment and therefore have experience and expertise in this domain.
