I strongly believe in the innate beauty and vast potential of each and every person. As a therapist, my goal is to help my clients see the greatness of who they are as they are now and the true potential of who they can become. I am extremely passionate about my work and have had the great privilege of being witness to the amazing life changes a person can make once they are validated and are able to understand what they are really capable of accomplishing.

I work with people experiencing anxiety, OCD, emotional overwhelm, identity issues, relational trauma, and/or life transitions. My clients often experience cathartic "lightbulb" moments when we connect the dots between their life experiences, mental health symptoms, the brain, and the body. Seeking therapy can feel overwhelming and even scary, but you're not alone. Together we'll harness your unique strengths to help you navigate problems, gain confidence, and reduce stress. Some of the approaches I use include cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), somatic work, DBT, EMDR, exposure therapy, art, and music.

abuse, complex trauma, identity-based trauma), immigrant stress, OCD, disordered eating, and adjustment difficulties (life transitions, fertility/pre/postnatal, grief).
Reaching out to a therapist is hard. So first, take a moment to commend yourself for prioritizing your wellbeing - it is difficult, even for me as a therapist! I believe that we all have a desire for genuine relational connection. However, our past experiences (eg. oppression, trauma, relational disconnections) inform our strategies of survival (eg. perfectionism, addiction, avoidance), which paradoxically leave us feeling dysregulated, isolated, or stuck in painful relationships. I see therapy as a space where you and I can co-create an open & authentic relationship, which will help us explore and heal your current life stressors.

Hi, I'm a counselor specializing in the treatment of traumatic stress (PTSD), anxiety, including obsessive-compulsive disorder and social anxiety, and grief and loss. Many of my clients tend to internalize their struggles to avoid burdening others, leading to a perceived loss of control that negatively affects their relationships, work, and physical health. My goal is to help you identify the most effective strategies to address these challenges and to provide relief. Together, we can explore how the mind and body influence your behavior, helping you gain both insight and control in your life.

She has a very strong background working with clients with depression, anxiety, OCD, and substance use issues.
Rachel Barry is a licensed clinical social worker practicing therapy in the downtown Marietta area. She is honored to work with individuals who aim to increase their quality of life and emotional well-being. Rachel believes that we, as human beings, hold all the answers we need within ourselves, but that we sometimes need a little help accessing our own truth and path through life - talk therapy with a trained clinician is an excellent tool for this. Talking helps us think and gain clarity into our own lives, so that we can heal from pain and begin to recover.

My therapeutic skills include helping people who are struggling with panic, OCD symptoms, trauma, and other forms of anxiety.
I specialize in working with people who are experiencing increased anxiety and stress, struggling with panic and responses to trauma, and navigating daily-life with obsessions and compulsions. I know that awareness brings change. One of the greatest tasks then for therapy is to gain insight and understanding as to what leads to feeling sad, anxious, and overwhelmed. So often, our first desire is to get rid of these experiences, but as we demonstrate the courage to understand and accept all parts of ourselves, we gain access to balance, self-guidance, and the peace that is missing in life.

My primary focus has been on treatment for anxiety, depression, trauma, grief and loss, OCD, and substance abuse, typically utilizing either CBT or DBT based interventions, but I have worked with clients with a wide range of needs and am always seeking training in evidence-based practices that can help the people I work with.
At its best, therapy should be a partnership. I am dedicated to creating a therapeutic environment focused on your needs and goals. I believe anyone can benefit from therapy at some point in their lives and have worked with clients from a large range of life stages, from teenagers looking to find their path to elders seeking meaning and fulfillment in retirement.

My specialties include depression, anxiety, family and relationship issues, codependency, healing from abuse, self-esteem, self-defeating thought patterns, and OCD.
I know how painful and isolating depression can be. Anxious thoughts can cause us to doubt ourselves and the people we want to trust. Navigating relationships, whether they be romantic, friendships, work-related, or family, can involve immense stress and uncertainty. Life experiences may bring us pain, cause us to question our world, and create obstacles that feel overwhelming and overpowering. Having someone to talk to can make a valuable difference. I hope to provide a safe space where you can be your true self, where you will feel supported, and where we will have insightful conversations that bring awareness and meaning.

Trained in trauma models and other mental health issues involving: anxiety, depression, OCD, Bipolar I and II disorder, trauma, professional stress management, LGBTQIA+, and couples' issues.
My therapy practice focuses on the balance and confluence of different aspects of identity and external environment. Through integrations of cognitive behavioral models, DBT, and narrative therapies, we work together to achieve this balance. Some of my most deeply held value systems center around social justice and equity, and I bring this into each session with my clients. I also focus on creating a person-centered and holistic therapy space in which clients may pursue their own reflection and introspection.

Obsessive-Compulsive (OCD) Therapists

How long does OCD treatment take?

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is often treated on a weekly or twice-weekly schedule, depending on symptom severity and the client’s preferences. Some clients may start to see a noticeable improvement in symptoms in as little as six weeks, but it’s also possible, especially in more severe cases, for treatment to take several months to a year before significant progress is made.

What happens if OCD is not treated?

Some people with OCD, especially those with mild symptoms, may find that they are able to adapt reasonably well to life with the condition, even if their symptoms never resolve completely. However, many people, particularly those whose symptoms are severe at the outset, find that their obsessions and compulsions grow more intrusive with time, making it harder to maintain relationships, hold down a job, or navigate the world successfully.

Are there medications for OCD?

Medication can be used to treat OCD. The class of drugs most often prescribed are selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, or SSRIs, which include fluvoxamine (under the brand name Luvox), fluoxetine (Prozac), and sertraline (Zoloft), among others. In cases of treatment-resistant OCD, other classes of medication, such as tricyclic antidepressants or atypical antipsychotics, may be prescribed. Medication is frequently used in conjunction with therapy.

Can OCD come back after treatment?

Yes. Major life transitions, periods of stress, or other factors can cause symptoms to return or, if they were never fully eradicated, to ramp back up in intensity. For some, these relapses are brief and do not require additional treatment; identifying specific triggers and practicing the skills learned in therapy can help speed their course. For others, returning to therapy for a brief period can help address the underlying stress and strengthen coping mechanisms.
