My name is Dr. Carla D. Ray, DSW, LCSW. I am the Founder & Owner of New Beginnings Behavioral Health Counseling. My skills and areas of expertise include childhood, adolescent and adult Psychotherapy. I am credentialed as a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) and a doctorate of social work (DSW). As a social worker, for the past 17 years, I have provided an array of social work services to include case management and psychiatric treatment. I hold a Master of Social Work in Mental Health and Substance Abuse through Fayetteville State University and Doctorate Degree in Social Work from Capella University.

I work with individuals, couples, teens, and families who are experiencing a variety of clinical concerns. Areas of focus include depression, anxiety, burnout, self concept, conflict, infidelity, life transitions, and family issues.

Most of my clients are facing relational challenges due to areas that are out of balance in their lives. At the present time, I have about 150 clients. I spend much time working with people with high levels of stress, anxiety and depression. My greatest strengths are in Marriage & Family and Youth Counseling due to the fact that I look for root problems in the lives of people and find ways to retrain them so that they can be much more functional. I am also very effective with self-esteem issues. With additional counselors we can address substance abuse, weight management, child custody issues, divorce mediation, etc.

I strive to provide clients with comprehensive, non-judgment, and compassionate care as I journey with them to explore who they are, where they are, and who they desire to be and/or what they desire to overcome. I offer a safe and sacred space that invite clients to find inner peace, self-love, and grace.

I work with clients from a Bowenian perspective, believing that "problems are not in people, but rather people struggle against problems." I am trained in theology and psychotherapy and use the wisdom of both disciplines as clients desire in my work with individuals, couples, families, and groups. I work with clients to essentially help them gain more control over their lives, emotions, thoughts, behaviors, and relationships. Hey there! Just jumping in... I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I have a master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy/Professional Counseling from Johnson University in Knoxville, TN. I also received my PhD in Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of Louisiana Monroe. I enjoy connecting with individuals, couples and parents to help strengthen and empower these relationships to flourish beyond many circumstances. I mostly work with adults 18 and older.
