My counseling style is warm, nurturing and supportive. I typically approach counseling from cognitive-behavioral, solution focused and system theory frameworks. I have over a decade of diverse experiences working with young children, adolescents, and adults providing an array of services. My ideal client will take advantage of my professional experiences that reach across educational, psychological, behavioral, judicial and social spectrums. This client will see the benefits of my services such as counseling, psychotherapy and/or coaching or consulting, supervising, crisis management, pre-trial diversions, trainings and workshops. Issues addressed: goal setting, stress/anger management, grief, relationships, identity, family of origin, parenting skills, family violence, depression, anxiety, faith based and addictions such as substance, and shoplifting for a few.

Without question my heart, passion, and skill set is working with men and young males ages 18 and up. Specifically, African American males with disabilities and behavioral challenges at home, work, and in community settings. My background and education provides an unique perspective into the challenges young males and men face. In addition, my strong belief in the family unit, as modeled by my personal lifestyle, provides me with an equal passion to see couples married and non-married figure out how to transition into lifestyles that best suite their individual and collective mental, emotional, and spiritual needs.

Change can be difficult to handle, but let's do it together. Creating a safe, nonjudgmental free zone is my priority for therapy with clients. My ideal client is motivated for therapy, enthusiastic about the process and receptive to feedback. I enjoy working with young adult African-American females going through transitional phases within their life. Maybe she is finding her place in the world, experiencing challenges that may be unexplained, dealing with emotional/physical abuse by a loved one or caregiver, wanting to get in touch with who she is or finding ways to cope with the difficulties of discrimination and systematic racism

I am seeking to work with clients and families who want to uncover why life is not as fulfilling as it could. I want to help bring light to dark places in people's lives. I provide services in under served areas to reduce the effects of disparity in the mental health community. I feel that mental health is a right for all people at all stages of life. A little help now can have big impacts later in life. I also constantly advocate for the rights of the mentally ill.

As a faith based, evidence based, and clinical counselor, I believe therapy is a collaborative journey between the client and therapist. Every individual is composed of mind, body and spirit. If one is out of balance so are the other two. My objective is to provide help on the path to wholeness and tranquility. My first goal in counseling is to create a safe space for clients to express feelings and challenges encountered. As ordained clergy, I believe it is important for clergy to have a forum to express their challenges and thoughts without repercussion or concern about perceptions from congregations in which they serve.
