I am trained in Neurofeedback, Play Therapy, Grounded Kids Yoga, Sandtray Therapy, Yoga for Depression and Anxiety and Psych-K (subconscious belief change therapy).

I believe that our bodies and minds are inextricably connected and have an enormous capacity not only to heal anything that ails us, but to take us beyond healing- to a state in which we are able to thrive. My passion is using Neurofeedback to restore, rebalance, and retrain brainwaves in the direction of health and happiness, while supporting and empowering my clients as they reclaim the thriving lives that they were meant to live.

To all the perfectionists & people pleasers out there: No, life does not have to be this hard. Let me paint you a picture: You are overwhelmed by stress and anxiety, but you do everything you can to appear perfectly fine in front of other people. You feel really alone, but you’re afraid to burden others with your pain. You feel like you’re constantly running on empty, but you don’t know how to get back to feeling like yourself again. To make matters worse, that voice in your head won’t shut up about how you can't trust yourself and there must be something wrong with you. Does this sound like you?

I support clients in developing techniques to address overwhelm & anxiety, difficult life transitions and grief.
Do you struggle with feeling anxious and overwhelmed more often than you’d like? Is it affecting your ability to connect in relationships and work effectively? Maybe you feel frazzled and out-of-control, have experienced a significant loss or entered into a life change that feels challenging. Managing relationships, work, and life transitions (including adjustment to college, parenthood, menopause, divorce, etc), particularly in an ever-changing, often overstimulating world, might feel impossible but there are ways to work through these experiences and even use them to your advantage!

On the outside, you really seem to have it together. But inside, you feel lost, anxious, depressed, and stuck. Some days, just getting out of bed in the morning takes a huge effort. Maybe your relationships have started to suffer. Or you find yourself caught in a regular battle with your own thoughts and emotions. That nagging critical voice inside you is always judging you: “You’ll never be good enough.” You try to fight it, ignore it, distract from it — you waste countless hours scrolling through social media, spend longer hours at the office, or find other ways to escape. But it’s always there. And you are exhausted.

I truly believe it is never too late to learn about yourself and take steps toward a full, meaningful life. We may be a good match if you are experiencing anxiety, life transitions, grief or loss, or if you want to increase kindness, compassion, and care toward yourself (yes, yourself!) and others. I provide Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), which integrates mindfulness, personal values, and taking active steps to get unstuck. My clients find that it is very possible to learn skills to reduce anxiety, improve communication, and change unhelpful life patterns.

I have specialized training in the treatment of posttraumatic stress disorder and anxiety disorders.
Even daily life experiences such as work, parenting, caregiving, or the experience of racism can take toll on our moods and functioning. If they are not addressed, depression, anxiety, and other stress-related concerns can keep us from being fully able to engage in our lives.

We can also work on any anxiety or depression than can be an underlying cause or lingering effect of insomnia.
Insomnia is a disorder that touches every aspect of a person's life. There's nothing more miserable than struggling to sleep, which seems like it should be so natural and easy. Then, during the day, you wonder why, if you're so tired, is it so hard to sleep at night? It is possible to get sufficient high-quality sleep without the use of medication. Cognitive-Behavioral Treatment for Insomnia (CBT-I) has been recommended as the first line of treatment for chronic insomnia, and I have seen it work in clients from age 15 up to 90+.

Some of my experience includes, spirituality, LGBTQIA+, depression, anxiety, self-esteem concerns, anger management, stress management and communication/relationship difficulties, just to name a few.
I am a native of Atlanta, GA and have over 18+ years’ experience in the counseling field As a therapist, I engage and educate my clients on how their thoughts and feelings truly have correlation with the actions they exhibit and symptoms they experience. I believe, if a person can learn/create healthy coping mechanisms such as, thought stopping techniques, positive self-talk, meditation, self-regulation, and mindfulness living, then change can certainly occur. I normally incorporate digital learning by assigning lessons, exercises, and homework between scheduled sessions.

You've "worked on" yourself plenty but you still feel stuck or blocked. You get anxious or reactive in situations when, rationally, you know that you "shouldn't". The way you actually relate to yourself and people in your life does not look or feel like you wish it would. You know you are capable of more; personally, professionally, creatively, spiritually but your head and heart can't seem to get aligned. You want to feel more at peace in your own skin, more connected to the people in your life, and more engaged with life.

Anxiety Therapists

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
