Robin's Nest currently assists with women, teen, and children populations.
I once heard that finding a good therapist is like discovering your favorite flavor of ice cream. Counseling is not one size fits all. I focus primarily on the creation of a warm atmosphere to dissolve barriers to a joyful authentic life. In order to see results of therapy, I believe there must be a strong therapeutic relationship. I am a non judgmental advocate for my clients. I believe that having an anchor of strength and support is an aspect of therapy that is life changing. Therapy can be a catalyst to create peace, change, joy, and self awareness. I would love to take this journey with you.

Are you struggling with life balance since your loved one has become ill? Are you now caring for an aging parent that didn't take care of you? Is talking with your family about your aging loved one challenging or stressful? As we age, so do our families of origin. Sometimes we are called back to our families of origin to help aging family members - like our siblings or parents. This can be challenging for many people. When we are called back to help, things like old wounds, family dysfunction and confusion on where to go for help can arise. Therapy can help bring clarity.

Empowering women to become the most powerful version of themselves is my passion.
Life can feel overwhelming sometimes. Do you struggle with anxiety, depression, a challenging relationship or a loss of a sense of self that affects how you function? Do you feel sad, exhausted or overwhelmed by how you are feeling? I believe that you can overcome your feelings and circumstances: it should not be so hard to live better, there is hope.

Are you feeling overwhelmed by your emotions – or perhaps not feeling anything at all? Are you consumed with self-defeating thoughts? Are your coping skills causing more problems than helping? Are your relationships suffering? I believe that the person we were intended to be can become buried under life circumstances (both past and present), trauma, mental health challenges and substance abuse. Gaining insight to problematic thoughts and behaviors, learning healthy coping skills, and processing overwhelming feelings are just some of the ways therapy can help.

I specialize in working with adults who have trauma, PTSD, anxiety, depression, grief, stress, and relationship issues. Often when we experience difficult life events, we hold our upsetting memories vividly in our thoughts, beliefs, emotions, and even in our bodies. We revisit the painful past again and again, stuck in negativity and unable to simply talk our way out of the distress. I help my clients to access and process, at a deeper level, these experiences, using effective, evidence-based modalities that work. We clear out the painful past to make room for the joyful, fulfilled, self-actualized life they yearn for and deserve.

Let's face it: sex and intimacy can be a bit complicated, no matter how old you are or how long you've been sexually active. Things come up, our bodies change, and sexual desires evolve. This can sometimes cause confusion and disruption in our lives. No one should feel they are navigating this alone. Allow me to create a safe space for you to become a master at communicating your needs, feel more comfortable in your body, and experience safe and pleasurable intimate encounters. I am also knowledgable about Kink/BDSM as well as I am poly-affirmative therapist.

Female Therapists

Does it matter what gender my therapist is?

In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.

Should I see a female therapist?

Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?

Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?

It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
