Each human being is wonderfully unique and amazing with their own set of individual strengths. Life often offers challenges that can take us away from enjoying our fully authentic selves; bringing on negative and anxious feelings that severely affect our mental health and quality of life. We can grow through such challenges by learning skills, strategies, and being open to new ways of thinking that can empower us to live our best life. I support people as they grow and heal through challenges by helping them build tools, listening with respect and compassion, and honoring their unique Self. Consistent with our goal of meeting you where you are we provide in person and online psychotherapy through a secure telehealth platform.
As high achieving women and girls you have worked hard to achieve your education and career goals, and now struggle with feeling stressed, the imposter syndrome, or being one of the only ones in your work or education place. Others believe you have it all; on the outside you look independent, accomplished and “together”, but on the inside you feel anxious, depressed, and overwhelmed. You struggle to maintain your professional position while managing the rest of your life. Your personal life and self-care suffers. You feel exhausted by it all and have no idea how to get out of the cycle, but realize it is time for change.

Sessions offered online with flexibility in scheduling convenient times.
Why bother telling anyone, they won't believe you or won't care. People would think it was your fault, after all, you did not say "no". There is no way that your physical health issues could be related to what happened to you, after all, it was so long ago and you don't even think about it anymore. It becomes easier to wear a mask then reveal the pain of what you cannot speak about. Being strong all the time becomes harder as the days, weeks, and months go by.

Is this you? You're an adult and you're supposed to have it figured out. BUT you don't. Or, perhaps you thought you were in a happy marriage, UNTIL. Are you getting married? You know you love each other, but you haven't had the hard conversations, AND, you're not sure where to start. Maybe, you always seem to be on high alert. You always wonder: why am I always waiting for the other shoe to drop?"

Thank you for considering me for your EMDR treatment and care. After working for over ten years with individuals impacted by complex trauma, I felt ready to begin the training needed to become an EMDR provider through an EMDRIA approved program. The Institute for Creative Mindfulness provided a robust EMDR training over several weeks which allowed for practicum as well as testing to prepare for working with clients using EMDR. At this time, I am on a waitlist for individuals looking for ongoing therapy, but have openings for EMDR intensive clients.

I am honored to walk alongside my clients on their journey, providing guidance, support, encouragement, and a strong knowledge of evidenced-based therapeutic interventions and skills to aid in growth and healing. I believe in using the personal strengths each client brings into therapy rather than focusing on pathology and diagnosis. Thus, I use a person-centered, trauma-informed, eclectic style in order to tailor my interventions to best fit the needs and goals of each individual client.

Online Therapists

Is online therapy as effective as in-person?

Numerous studies suggest that online therapy can be as effective as in-person therapy. However, further research is needed to determine if online therapy provides the same benefits across all client populations. Individuals with severe mental illnesses, such as schizophrenia or bipolar disorder, or those who may benefit from in-person check-ins, like those with eating disorders, may not experience the same level of benefit from online therapy. Nonetheless, the success of online therapy, much like in-person therapy, often hinges on the quality of the therapeutic relationship between the therapist and the client rather than the specific modality of therapy used.

What are the advantages and disadvantages of therapy conducted online?

One of the main advantages of online therapy is its convenience for both clients and therapists. It also allows clients who require specialized therapy to access a wider range of professionals than they could with only in-person sessions. Additionally, online therapy may be a more affordable option in some cases and often offers the same insurance benefits as in-person therapy. However, online therapy may not be suitable for everyone, especially those who value face-to-face interaction with a therapist. Therapists may find it more challenging to assess clients accurately in an online setting due to reduced nonverbal cues on camera. There is also the increased risk that disruptions caused by external factors, such as technology malfunctions, can hinder the therapy session. For these reasons, many therapists offer a "hybrid" therapeutic approach, alternating between seeing clients in-person and online.

Is online therapy suitable for children and adolescents?

Just like with adults, the accessibility and convenience of online therapy can greatly benefit children and adolescents. In fact, children and adolescents may be more accustomed to navigating online platforms than older adults, making online sessions feel more natural for them. Teens might also be interested in using additional online tools, such as therapist-recommended apps, as an adjunct to online therapy sessions. Apps for developing CBT skills, practicing mindfulness exercises, or tracking thoughts and moods can be helpful for teens receiving therapy. However, it's important to note that not all therapeutic modalities are well-suited to online therapy, especially those used with younger children. For example, play therapy, which helps younger children express their emotions, often requires in-person sessions to be fully effective.

Can I receive prescriptions and medication management with online therapy?

The ability for psychiatrists to prescribe medications through online therapy varies based on the medication and the states where the medical professional and client are located. While many prescribing regulations were relaxed during the COVID-19 pandemic, some states still enforce rules, especially concerning controlled substances, which may mandate an in-person visit before prescribing. Generally, however, medical professionals can prescribe non-controlled substances through online therapy sessions just as they do during in-person sessions.
