Thank you for considering me for your EMDR treatment and care. After working for over ten years with individuals impacted by complex trauma, I felt ready to begin the training needed to become an EMDR provider through an EMDRIA approved program. The Institute for Creative Mindfulness provided a robust EMDR training over several weeks which allowed for practicum as well as testing to prepare for working with clients using EMDR. At this time, I am on a waitlist for individuals looking for ongoing therapy, but have openings for EMDR intensive clients.

I strive to provide a place of help, hope and healing. I enjoy working with clients who are struggling with all life's challenges - whether it is having (or wanting to have) a baby, emerging as an adult, relationship crisis, or the completely unexpected. These adjustments, the hope, the loss, the exhaustion is not easy. Expectations can often be far different from reality leading to anxiety, depression and other mental health issues.

I help individuals identify the root cause of their symptoms and challenge their beliefs and behaviors that are creating disruption in their life. I believe we all have the opportunity to break limiting beliefs and behaviors as we accept responsibility for our life. I implement Mindfulness and Cognitive Behavior Compassion Therapy practices and techniques. I utilize energy alignment techniques and meditation to work on healing the inner child and change deep rooted patterns. I encourage people to rise to their highest self and embrace their personal power in creating their best life.

Each human being is wonderfully unique and amazing with their own set of individual strengths. Life often offers challenges that can take us away from enjoying our fully authentic selves; bringing on negative and anxious feelings that severely affect our mental health and quality of life. We can grow through such challenges by learning skills, strategies, and being open to new ways of thinking that can empower us to live our best life. I support people as they grow and heal through challenges by helping them build tools, listening with respect and compassion, and honoring their unique Self. I have a heart for people who are overwhelmed with life's experiences and struggling to cope and move forward to a healthier place. I feel people need to know there is someone in their corner, willing to listen, and help them find a place of feeling stronger, more in control and capable of managing life's difficulties. In my experience I have found that, in most situations, by the time someone reaches out to a counselor, they have already tried to self-heal and are in a place where they can only see one thing: the problem. I find great value in helping people learn ways to cope, regain their perspective, and feel worthy again.

Female Therapists
Does it matter what gender my therapist is?
In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.
Should I see a female therapist?
Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.
Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?
Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.
How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?
It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
