I utilize a variety of counseling techniques including Solution-Focused Therapy, Narrative Therapy, CBT, Emotionally Focused Therapy and Somatic Therapy to find the best-fit approach for each client.
I will partner with you to help restore your capacity to thrive by engaging your strengths, processing difficult emotions, connecting your mind to your body, bringing understanding to problematic patterns, and re-writing unhelpful stories. It is my goal to provide a inclusive, compassionate, and non-judgmental space for you to process and explore your challenges. I approach our counseling relationship with the perspective that you are not a problem to be solved, but a person to be engaged.

I love helping clients find what works best for them and their lifestyle, including breathing techniques, grounding, visualizations and mindful movement; and I integrate talk therapy with somatic/body-based work, when applicable.
I work with adults who are navigating the demands of life in a culture where support is hard to come-by. Here, you are welcomed into a safe, inclusive, warm and non-judgmental environment to share your story and feelings and learn how to accept, honor and cope with them to live a more balanced and full life. I truly love helping others and guiding them toward discovery (or re-discovery) of themselves. My background is in perinatal mental health and college mental health counseling, and I have specialized training and experience in perinatal and postpartum mental health, as well as trauma sensitive yoga and breath training.

I incorporate mediation, music, Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT), grounding strategies, somatic therapies, and a variety of CBT.
Seeking therapy can feel a little daunting, or maybe even embarrassing, but you're making the right choice. Have you been struggling with grief or loss? Do you find it hard to stay happy even though you have achieved a lot? Have you discovered an unresolved trauma that needs healing? Are you experiencing anxiety in unmanageable ways? Or do you just want help letting go of things that are keeping you "stuck?" I think I can help with that.

I blend different therapeutic approaches like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Person-centered Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Somatic therapy while staying grounded in a Holistic approach.
In my practice, I aim to empower clients to deepen their self-understanding, cultivate self-worth, and nurture self-love. Rooted in empathy, I gently encourage clients to explore underlying issues that continue to impact their lives. I foster a space where individuals feel fully accepted, valued, and respected. All are welcome! I’m passionate about supporting individuals who have faced trauma, encounter challenges in their relationships, struggle with low self-esteem, grapple with anxiety and depression, or just want a place to process everyday stressors (or someone to share your latest Netflix obsession with).

Parenting is challenging, almost by definition. When it becomes overwhelming to the point of creating a crisis in the home or school, it is time to seek help. If your child is chronically oppositional, hyperaggressive, fraught with roller-coaster emotions, or at the other extreme, crippled by anxiety, very poor self-image, or depression, I can work with you to reduce these issues and help restore more harmony between you and your child when such power struggles interfere with family peace. I work with these child-family issues, as well as autism spectrum disorder, problematic school behaviors, serious sibling conflicts, and more.

We live in paradise! We have fallen in love with the easy-going Savannah and island lifestyle. And although there is so much beauty on the coast, we can still lose our way in life so that we can't see all of that peace and beauty surrounding us. Whatever the reason, we aim to help people get back on a meaningful path in life. As the Rolling Stones say, "You can't always get what you want. But if you try, sometimes, you might get what you need!"

At this moment, try releasing your shoulders from your ears, unclenching your jaw, and removing your tongue from the roof of your mouth. We tend to hold onto stress in the least noticeable ways and subtle changes can help bring awareness to our stress patterns. Whether you find yourself struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, relationships, life transitions, addiction, or the general stress of everyday life, you are in the right place. My hope is that through collaboration and a safe space to explore whatever it is you may be facing, I can be of support to you along your way.

You want to experience life’s transitions, learn coping skills, process loss, and repair relationships. Feelings of anxiety, depression, resentment, and grief are moments that can teach us about ourselves - our ability to cope, to heal, to change, and to live in the present moment. These feelings are like messengers that show us where we might feel stuck. You might struggle to set boundaries or feel trapped in unhealthy attachment patterns from the past. We will identify the patterns in your life that are no longer working for you, and you will learn to use tools that can help you embrace the full spectrum of the human experience.

Somatic Therapists

How does somatic therapy work?

Somatic therapy is a form of treatment that focuses on how the body and mind are interconnected. In this approach, physical symptoms are addressed because they may in fact signal emotional distress. Somatic therapists combine mindfulness, talk therapy, breathwork, yoga, dance, and physical manipulations of the body to help patients become more attuned to what their body is telling them.

Is EMDR a somatic therapy?

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a form of somatic therapy, as it incorporates mental and physical principles. EMDR involves remembering a traumatic experience while allowing one’s eyes to track a side-to-side visual stimulus from a therapist. This lateral eye movement is believed to diminish the painful power of the memory so that it can be discussed with a therapist.

Is somatic therapy evidence-based?

Somatic therapy has been researched and studied, and some forms of somatic therapy are found to be effective in treating a wide range of conditions. Because somatic therapy encompasses many techniques, some, such as EMDR and meditation, have been studied more than others.

What is somatic trauma therapy?

Somatic trauma therapy is based on the idea that when people experience trauma, they can become stuck in the “freeze” part of a “fight, flight, or freeze” response. In this state, trauma can manifest itself both mentally and physically—through tension in the muscles, anxiety, and stress. Popular forms of somatic trauma therapy include EMDR, sensorimotor therapy, and somatic experiencing.
