My highest ambition in my work with clients is to help you to discover your own inherent strengths, resources, wisdom, and power, and to help you to cultivate compassion for yourself through mindfulness, radical self acceptance and self compassion. I have experience working with anxiety, depression, OCD, grief and loss, life transitions, family of origin issues, relationship challenges, sexual orientation and gender identity questions, vocational and existential concerns. I have training and experience working with LGBTIQ+ folk, as well as clients in non traditional relationships.

My approach to counseling is a collaborative effort between my client and myself to work towards goals that align with the client's values, beliefs and aspirations. I utilize mindfulness based cognitive therapy to help my clients set specific and achievable goals while teaching techniques and coping mechanisms to relieve the client's current symptoms. I provide counseling from a multicultural lens based in my experience as a biracial woman with an immigrant parent. I'm also a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor and have worked extensively with people coping with disabling and chronic conditions.

I aim to serve those struggling with the symptoms of depression, anxiety, and any of the other litany of mental illnesses that can make doing the things we need to do a challenge. Put simply - I want to help you improve your life and the relationships within it.

So, this life thing is super hard sometimes. And since 2020, life has been even harder for all of us. For those of us who have a trauma history, it's sometimes felt like more than we can bear. Relationships have changed or ended, many of us have come to a deeper understanding about ourselves and communities. Some of this new understanding has been challenging our coping skills we developed in the “before times”, often leaving us feeling overwhelmed, frustrated, grieving and anxious. My personal philosophy is this: we recover best in community, finding our people with whom we can develop mutually supportive environments.

Life stressors can gravely impact significant areas of one's life such as Family, life Transtions, Academics and Relationships. Coping with and resolving these issues alone can sometimes prove to be challenging. You do not have to face it alone. Therapy can help to empower you to regain better control of your life. I understand that every client has individualized treatment needs,thus therapy is tailored as such to achieve maximum growth potential.

Psychotherapy is my second career. As an attorney, I enjoyed working one-on-one with people, and I found myself drawn to my client's personal stories. After many years in law, I decided that a career as a therapist was my true passion. I employ a variety of approaches in my work including Dialetical Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Internal Family Systems. I have particular expertise in helping trauma survivors. I help people heal from complex trauma by providing a safe, caring, non-judgmental therapeutic environment.

I have experience working with adults to address self-esteem, relationship issues, communication barriers and boundaries, in addition to other emotional concerns. I am also comfortable addressing anxiety and depressive symptoms. I have training in processing trauma narratives and am working toward becoming a Certified Sex Therapist.

I specialize in child centered play therapy with young children ages 2-7 and person centered counseling for adults 20-40. I help clients navigate anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, neurodivergence, gender and sexual identity exploration, suicide, coping with oppression, and adjusting to life changes. My door is wide open to anyone in the LGBTQIA+ community, neurodivergent folks, and polyamorous individuals/families, or anyone looking to do the brave work of understanding themselves more deeply.
