I work using a blend of talk therapy, somatic skills, EMDR, and Lifespan Integration.
I am not currently accepting new clients.....Researching therapists can be a daunting task, especially when you're used to tackling life's challenges on your own. Lately, something has shifted. Anxiety has you feeling emotionally drained and overwhelmed. It's time to acknowledge that seeking support for yourself is not only acceptable but necessary. You deserve the time and quiet that therapy provides.

I am trained in trauma work, including Janina Fisher's Trauma Informed Stabilization Treatment and EMDR certified.
I work with individuals middle school aged and up. My client's issues range from ADHD, depression and anxiety, bipolar disorder, and schizophrenia in addition to phase of life/life changing issues. I work with many LBGTQ+ individuals and work very hard to be culturally sensitive and competent. If we are a good fit for one another, I have no doubt that we can work together to help you get back on the road to enjoy life or feel more confident in what you want to do next. Ideally, a client would choose me that was looking for a more relaxed feel while being able to complete the work. I'm more sweaters and T's than suits and buttons.

Identifying that you need additional support and accepting the challenge of allowing someone to step in and provide you with that support is a major step in the right direction and requires a lot of courage. Counseling is more than telling a stranger your problems. It’s a decision that will enable you to learn how to manage your stress or circumstance, giving you the energy you need to pursue your goals and live a more peaceful, satisfying and fulfilling life.

We might include personality profiles, values assessments, and maybe even your natal chart alongside evidenced-based practices like IFS therapy and EMDR.
I believe in a different kind of therapy, a holistic kind of therapy where mental health care isn't just mental; therapy that takes into account your past, present, and future; that holds space for every single part of you and your experiences. I specialize in trauma, anxiety and depression, chronic illness, disordered eating, LGBTQ+ issues, and, most of all, helping clients find holistic and embodied healing. I aim to partner you on the journey to finding more inner stability, empowerment, more fulfilling connections with others, and a greater sense of your own worth.

EMDR Therapists

Who is EMDR for?

EMDR was initially developed as a treatment for individuals with Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), for whom memories of a deeply distressing experience can be inadvertently triggered by random everyday events. The procedure has since been applied in the treatment of many other conditions. For example, it is used by some therapists to treat anxiety disorders including panic and phobias, depression, dissociative disorders, eating disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and some personality disorders. It is suitable for adolescents and adults.

Why do people need EMDR?

People need EMDR as a way to manage distressing memories that in some way hamper the ability to function in the present. The procedure is believed to target the way memories are stored in the brain. Evidence indicates that past disturbing experiences cause ongoing distress because they were not adequately processed, and when such memories are triggered in the present, they are accompanied by all the emotions, thoughts, and physical sensations as the initial experience.

What problems does EMDR treat?

First and foremost, EMDR is intended as a treatment for PTSD, to defuse distressing memories that intrude on and impair everyday functioning. It is also often used to help those who are subject to panic attacks, phobias, and other forms of anxiety. In addition, EMDR has been used to treat individuals with depression, eating disorders, and personality disorders.

What happens in EMDR therapy?

First the therapist takes an individual’s history, and then the therapist and client decide which distressing experience(s) will be the target(s) of the exercise, delivered via a side-to-side visual stimulus requiring lateral eye movements. The client will be asked to activate thoughts, feelings, and any body sensations related to the troubling experience. The eye movements are said to reduce the emotional charge of the memory, so that the experience can then be safely discussed with the therapist and digested, minimizing its ability to trigger anxiety.
