I enjoy working with clients 15+ dealing with various mental health issues, including trauma, OCD, grief, and bipolar disorder to find out how they can refocus on what's important and make space for things that are difficult.
Being a human is tough. You may be struggling with feeling empty, disconnected, hopeless, or stuck. Maybe you've noticed that the person you are now appears drastically different from the person you used to be or is just not who you want to be going forward. You want life to be more engaging, fulfilling, and enjoyable. Your thoughts and feelings are valid, as is your desire to want more for yourself. I am humbled to walk with you on your journey to your desired life.

I am honored to walk alongside my clients on their journey, providing guidance, support, encouragement, and a strong knowledge of evidenced-based therapeutic interventions and skills to aid in growth and healing. I believe in using the personal strengths each client brings into therapy rather than focusing on pathology and diagnosis. Thus, I use a person-centered, trauma-informed, eclectic style in order to tailor my interventions to best fit the needs and goals of each individual client.

Most of my clients present with stress and depression either from grief or issues related to identity. These problems typically affect the way they are moving through the world, their relationships, their life satisfaction, and their understanding of themselves. My clients are typically searching for answers and understanding. They want to be able to live their lives instead of being trapped by trying to survive.

I also have experience working with Mood disorders such as Bipolar disorder, Anxiety, and Depression.
My approach to helping people is first trying to really get to know someone and understand what may not be working for them in their lives. We have all been there where sometimes we just don't know what is going on, all we know is that something is not in sync with what we want it to be. I am going to be honest and genuine during our time together and help you move towards changes you want. I love humor so prepare for us to have a few laughs during our sessions while we work together.

As a clinical social worker, I have worked with clients with a wide range of concerns including depression, bipolar, schizophrenia, anxiety, relationship issues, career challenges, and anger management.
Hello! I am a licensed clinical social worker in Georgia with over 12 years of experience working as a counselor and life coach. I have helped many people who have experienced physical trauma or emotional abuse. Originally from Mississippi, my counseling approach focuses heavily on building a strong rapport, so that trust is established before goals are discussed. Growing up in the South, treating someone with respect is required. In addition, my years working with individuals experiencing homelessness and those who were uninsured enhanced my awareness of seeing each person for who they are vs what they are currently experiencing.

Bipolar Disorder Therapists
What is the most successful approach to treating bipolar disorder?
Living with bipolar disorder can be challenging, and a number of therapies have been found effective in providing support to patients as they gain the skills to understand and manage the disorder. Family-focused therapy is often helpful for children and teens (the majority of cases develop before age 19); it aims to minimize mood cycling by improving family communication and reducing conflict. It also helps young people navigate the developmental challenges the disorder can create. Cognitive and behavioral therapy (CBT) and variants such as Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT)help patients manage the thoughts and feelings that influence bipolar mood swings as well as develop specific behavioral strategies to counteract them.
What happens in therapy for bipolar disorder?
Because the patterns of mood switching and its triggers differ for each person and can change over time, mood tracking or monitoring becomes a basic way patients learn about the nature of their condition. One of the most common features of therapy is finding a workable method of mood monitoring, in which patients track their daily activities and rate their moods, then use the findings to adjust routines accordingly. Patients learn ways of handling the many stresses that arise in life so that they do not trigger mood swings.
What kinds of problems does therapy help with?
Like many other mental health disorders, BPD is heavily influenced by stress; therapy provides skills for coping with stressors of all kinds. Therapy is extremely important for helping individuals identify the situations that may trigger mood switching, so that mood swings can be prevented. Therapy may especially target recognition of the early stages of mood change so that they can be managed. In addition, therapy helps patients deal with the significant amount of turbulence the disorder can create in relationships and in work life.
What is the goal of therapy for bipolar disorder?
Therapy helps patients set up their lives to maintain stability so that their mood isn’t constantly threatened by daily events. Perhaps the first task of therapy is to educate people about the nature of the disorder. At the same time, a primary goal of therapy is to enhance adherence to drug treatment. Extended periods of mood stability can prompt patients to discontinue medication, triggering relapse, while the early phases of manic episodes can feel so energizing that patients stop medication, ushering in full-blown mania and the altered self-perception that can lead to destructive behaviors. Another major goal of therapy is to understand one’s mood patterns so as to minimize both the frequency and intensity of mood cycling.
