If feeling burned out or stuck is what brought you here—you’re in the right place. I support folks dealing with stress, relationship bumps, overwhelming emotions, and those who need to make changes in their life or career. Many who work with me consider themselves perfectionists, disenfranchised, people-pleasers, over-thinkers, and imposters. Truth is, I’m here for the wounded hearts who fear they won't heal; those who have known pain so intensely that life without it seems unimaginable. You don’t have to carry this alone—we’re just not wired for that.

My practice is centered around helping people reconnect with their inherent goodness. So many of us walk around with a deep sense of unworthiness, a feeling that there's something wrong, finding ourselves in conflict with others, lacking purpose, and disconnected from our true selves. This is uncomfortable, painful even. In response to this discomfort, we develop all sorts of means to cope: drugs and alcohol, work, money, sex, video games, or TV. Or, we try to fix what’s “wrong” through perfectionism, achievement, therapy, or spirituality. We try to avoid or fix our insecurities out of fear, allowing them to grow.

There is purpose in your stress. There is purpose in your pain. Life is filled with constant transitions that are not always easy to navigate or successfully complete. Many people are not aware of how much impact their current environment, past events, and social pressures have on their daily lives. The idea of walking through life without support to heal or reflect can be exhausting. Often you may not be able to identify the exhaustion, stress, or pain but just know that something is “off”? So I ask ... do you today, right now, feel like you are living your best life? If not, the Helm Academy is a great place to begin therapy.

I specialize in treating adults (18+) experiencing symptoms of PTSD or other trauma-related disorders, as well as depression and/or anxiety. In my practice, I concentrate on addressing not only the trauma you have experienced but also the co-occurring issues that develop as a result of those experiences. These can include depression, anxiety, eating disorders/body image issues, low confidence in personal and work environments, problems forming and maintaining satisfying relationships, difficulty managing finances, and substance use. Everyone's experience is unique, and thus trauma impacts people differently.

Nearly everyone experiences moments of great difficulty and uncertainty. At times like that, hope is harder to gather, and we can find ourselves feeling stuck, unproductive, and maybe incapable. There's a best version of you that you want the world to witness, but it seems impossible to access that person buried somewhere beneath all the stress and confusion of life. If you find yourself feeling stuck or not quite living as your best self , I hope you will call me.

We all know that life is busy, stressful, and difficult to keep in balance, but when things become overwhelming or out of sync, the decision to seek counseling or coaching is a gutsy first step to getting back on track. I believe we owe it to ourselves and our loved ones to pay attention to our mind-body health, and I take a non-judgmental and collaborative approach to help identify what may be holding you back from a rewarding and fulfilling life. Together we can explore techniques to improve coping and communication and help you move forward with clarity and purpose.

A great thing about therapy is having someone who is really on your side as you figure yourself out. It's hard to get started, but it's really worth it when you do. Anxiety and trauma bring so much misery. Believe it or not, our emotions are supposed to help us. When our thoughts and emotions work together, it is awesome. We know who we are. We have a sense of calm and purpose. We feel competent and effective. But emotions work from a different set of rules than thoughts. If we don't understand those rules, our emotions work against us. We feel things we do not want to feel, and we want to feel things that we don't. This can change.

No one wants to live in a stressful, unhappy home. But this is the result when adults and children don't know how to communicate with each other in a safe, non-combative way.
Parents whose children have ADHD, ADD or suffer from anxiety, depression, attachment and separation issues, cutting or obsessive-compulsive disorders say the coping and change strategies they develop through my counseling sessions are enabling them to become, in one mom's words, "more normal" families.
