As a mental health professional, I aspire to provide therapeutic services that I wish were awarded to someone like me. I understand the false monolith placed upon cultural groups, the world’s reality differing from our expectations, and most importantly finding ourself distanced from others because they may not understand or lack of comfort. Providing balance between aspirations, obligations, and expectations is my ultimate therapeutic goal. I hope to promote an environment that allows each individual to be transparent, vulnerable, and unapologetically themselves without fear of bias, reproduction, or stereotype.

Knowledge of self is the core of complete education. My role of facilitator is to recognize and identify your "gifts" (interests, talents, motivations etc.) so that you can apply your knowledge of self on your life journey. I am culturally sensitive and have worked with diverse populations across various ages, cultural groups and orientations. I have utilized psychotherapy for 10+ years as a means to reduce/eliminate numerous disorders (such as Depression, Anxiety, etc.). Rasidi Consulting Associates believes in connecting community, family, and self. Rasidi works holistically and collaboratively to treat the whole person.

I provide individual, relationship, and group psychotherapy for adolescents and adults, specializing in sexual problems, spirituality, multicultural clients/families/issues, LGBTQ clients, grief/loss, anxiety/depression, premarital counseling, HIV/AIDS, and a variety of other presenting issues. Depending on my client's age, values, and presenting concerns I will utilize different approaches such as non-directive and directive play , Filial (empowering parents to be therapeutic agents of change for child), person-centered, and/or cognitive behavioral therapy. You do not have to have lived through something literally life-threatening to be a trauma survivor. If you didn't get your basic or emotional needs consistently met during infancy and early childhood, you likely struggle in your adult relationships. You might be overly clingy, avoidant, or self-sabotaging with your friendships and romantic partners. This is called complex trauma or attachment-based trauma, and it can be healed!

My name is Katherine Brown and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 10 years of experience in the fields of depressive and anxiety disorders, trauma, substance use disorders, grief and loss, and adjustment disorders. My philosophy of therapy is that everyone has the right to self-determination and the ability to get better, they sometimes just don’t realize it yet and that’s where I come into play. My therapeutic approach is very client-centered and I utilize various theoretical approaches grounded in evidenced-based research that’s the best fit possible for my client.
