My clients are people who have put a lot of effort into trying to figure out their lives both personally and professionally. They are told often that they are interesting, fun, and brave but can’t seem to fit those or any other self-affirming words into their vocabulary when speaking about themselves. They worry about things that haven’t even happened yet. They spend a lot of time wondering if they should’ve said or done a thing differently. They struggle to turn off the wheel of negative self-talk in their heads and they are exhausted by trying not to let any of it show. These people are also brilliant and special and curious.

Accepting new Clients. Many of the roles you carry in your life don't allow you to admit that you are personally struggling. As an entrepreneur/intrapreneur, you may hide certain feelings of shame, hopelessness, and disappointment. An unreasonable expectation for someone with a plate so large. You find that your emotions lead you to a lack of motivation, stagnation, and self-doubt. I strive to assist adults (18+) navigate the emotional rollercoaster of entrepreneurship and address what the public does not see. Your emotions may lead you to feel disconnected from your career, parents, partner, children, or friendships.

For as long as you can remember, perfectionism and people-pleasing have been your superpowers. Over the years, you’ve been described by others as conscientious, a hard worker, and maybe even an overachiever. But secretly, part of you actually believes that you’re an imposter and you’re terrified that people will eventually figure it out. Even worse, the thought of disappointing someone or telling them, “No,” overwhelms you with guilt. You wonder who you are without the approval of others, and you question your ability to trust your decisions. In short, you constantly feel like you have to manage other people's perceptions of you.

I love what I do! I have worked in pretty much every setting from school, outpatient, inpatient, in-home, virtual, and more recently corrections. My focus of practice has always been, the client first. Over the past 5 years that has gotten specific with an emphasis on self-care. I like to provide therapy from a holistic approach because I believe taking care of your whole self is how you better manage life. Interventions range from CBT, solution-focused, person-centered, and motivational interviewing.

Our real journey in this life is interior; it is a matter of growth, deepening, and of an ever greater surrender to the creative action of love and grace in our hearts. Thomas Merton wrote this a half-century ago, but it is still appropriate today. In our practice, we provide a safe, professional and holistic atmosphere, where people are supported in making profound changes and choices in their lives. I work collaboratively with both individuals and couples, using a plethora of techniques, including the Enneagram, dreams, myth, gestalt ,IFS, and EMDR.

Female Therapists
Does it matter what gender my therapist is?
In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.
Should I see a female therapist?
Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.
Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?
Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.
How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?
It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
