Accepting new clients. Every person has a story that deserves to be heard and understood. While I am not here to solve life’s problems for you, I am here to listen, empower, and walk with you on your path towards purposeful change and peace of mind. I enjoy working with individuals of all ages, but have a passion for working with young adults. Emerging adulthood is often depicted as the prime of life; however some struggle with feeling anxiety, depression, and stress.

My clients have ranged in age from 4 to 60+, and while their presenting "problems" have varied, there is always one common denominator: A need for nonjudgmental acceptance and connection. I build relationships with all of my clients from a person-centered stance, meaning that I provide a safe space for them to be themselves, while meeting them with my own, authentic self. Whatever the "issue," I trust there are also a host of strengths from which we can build on.

I use several theoretical approaches including person-centered, mindfulness, DBT, and ACT.
Many people seek therapy when it is time to unravel and challenge old and worn-out beliefs about themselves and write a new story. Along that journey, I have the privilege of witnessing people learn to treat themselves with the same love and kindness they often give so freely to others. In our work together, self-compassion, emotional regulation, and mindfulness are fundamental to growth and healing. I enjoy working with those struggling with anxiety disorders, low self-worth, body image concerns, eating disorders and disordered eating, relational issues, family of origin issues, life transitions, trauma, and depression.

For those struggling with change, I use Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Motivational Interviewing.
I am a licensed clinical social worker, founder of Kind Recovery, and one of the first certified psychedelic counselors in Georgia. I've been providing Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy since 2019. I work with clients who have experienced mental injury or trauma and find themselves stuck in rigid thought or behavior patterns. These patterns might look like perfectionism, people-pleasing, substance misuse (addiction), anxiety, depression, avoidance, and more. I want you to know that it is possible to radically shift these behaviors with the right approach. I'll be with you as you learn to access the wisdom of your higher self.

My approach to therapy integrates this along with trauma-informed Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), & Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to build an awareness of and non-judgmental stance on how your mind works & strengthen the mind-body connection.
Life can be, and often is, challenging and hard to navigate with the cards that have been dealt to us. It can also be a grand adventure that leads us to find connection and peace and meaning. I like to offer a space in therapy to explore what is working for you and what isn’t on your journey to find those things. My goal is to help you build your own life worth living through connection and resilience. I am accepting new clients now.

Acceptance and Commitment (ACT) Therapists

How does acceptance and commitment therapy work?

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy encourages a person to listen to their self-talk. A person’s inner dialog can be indicative of how they treat themselves. ACT also encourages self-compassion; this can lead to a better understanding of negative thought patterns and emotional states. This understanding can then lead the individual to needed behavior change.

What are the goals of acceptance and commitment therapy?

The goal of acceptance and commitment is to expand a person’s psychological flexibility, a trait that encourages an individual to live in the present moment and to accept all their thoughts, feelings, and emotions, even ones that are difficult such as sadness and anxiety. In ACT, this acceptance is congruent with the individual’s values and beliefs.

Does acceptance and commitment therapy work for depression?

Acceptance and commitment therapy is effective for depression because it allows the individual to view their discomfort and suffering differently. Depressive feelings about relationship heartaches, for example, are a part of life. A despondent person learns to let go of their struggles and instead view their painful thoughts and feelings with compassion. This will lead the individual toward positive change.

How long are people typically in acceptance and commitment therapy?

A typical acceptance and commitment therapy session is 50 minutes long with one session per week. Treatment for common problems such as anxiety, depression, or relationship difficulties can last between eight weeks to four months. However, more severe cases may require more than one session a week and/or a longer time frame for treatment.
