My approach to counseling is based on the Person-Centered theory. This means that my goal as a counselor is to support the process of self-discovery and the power that exists within each person. I will listen and attempt to create a safe place in which he/she or they feel(s) comfortable to share their story without judgement.
I work with individuals with a wide range of issues including addiction, trauma, depression, anxiety, stress management, identity development, low self-esteem, and relational conflicts. I integrate mindfulness-based, motivational interviewing, and cognitive behavioral therapies into therapies.
I am a bilingual English-Japanese Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor and Licensed Counselor Addiction Specialist. With my personal background, I am well aware of multicultural concerns and work willingly with minority populations.
