My speciality is counseling men. Seeking assistance is not easy. Being socialized in a male culture that doesn't always acknowledge our uniqueness or inner emotional lives can make it hard to trust being open and genuine. I provide a safe and confidential place for us to work on the complexity of who you are to help you clarify and detangle what is inside.
I am a Professor of Psychology at the University of Redlands (40yrs); I have written 5 books about working with men: Man Alive: A Primer of Men's Issues (1994); Men and Depression: Clinical and Empirical Perspectives (2000); Deepening Psychotherapy with Men (2002); Breaking Barriers in Counseling Men (2014); and Deepening Group Psychotherapy with Men (2019)

Groups
Group for Men (Wed Night) begins October 9, 2024
For Fall 2024: The group for men is in its 38th year. We focus on exploring the inner life, including relationship conflicts, questions about career and work direction, self-esteem, the impact of trauma and family of origin, and finding life meaning. Group involves talking, and experiential and physical activities. Those with experience in previous therapy, 12 step, or group are especially welcome. Interviews for this weekly 8-month experience occur in September 2024. This closed group runs each year from early October to the end of May. To be interviewed, call or email Dr. Rabinowitz.
