I work with adults, adolescents and children in psychodynamic therapy and psychoanalysis. The approach taken respects each person's individuality and the work is done in ways that are suited to each person's style and personality. The frequency and duration of treatment depends on the unique needs of each person - for example, a person may be seeking short-term therapy to deal with a school or work transition, while another person may be seeking longer term treatment to understand longstanding emotional pain or a pattern of unsuccessful relationships.
While the treatment needs for each person may be different, the goal is the same - to better understand the meaning of one's thoughts, feelings and behaviors and through understanding to create a chance for more lasting happiness and satisfaction in work, school, friendships and intimate relationships.
I also work with parents, either in addition to, or in lieu of, seeing a child for treatment. With younger children consultation with other professionals and schools is also part of the work. This "team" approach with parents, therapist and other professionals working together provides the best opportunity to help the child.
