The good news is that you are thinking about making a change. It is ok if you are not sure. I help clients sort through their reasons for making a change and for staying the same. We work together to uncover what is holding you back. In this process there are often images, myths or dreams that show up and that help guide change process. I encourage and support clients to explore the hidden gifts found in the shadow places in their lives and help them shed light on the purpose of old patterns before replacing them with something new and more effective.

Do you have a stack of partially read self-help books collecting dust in the corner? Maybe you had hopes they would provide the information you were seeking to stay cool and collected through challenging times - because let’s face it, 2020 was pretty much a shitshow. It is alright to feel overwhelmed, confused, and uncertain. When stressors create intrusive thoughts of not being enough or fears of abandonment, it can be helpful to talk to someone. Whether you are looking for coping strategies to build resiliency through life transitions or wanting to explore deeper parts of yourself and how you relate to the world, I am here.

Stepping out of your comfort zone can be a difficult experience. In order to grow we must take that leap. My role is to join individuals taking those risks and create a safe place to explore the possibilities. My approach can help people develop new insights into themselves by healing trauma and recognizing their inherent strengths. Using their own strengths people grow confidence to be their true self. I specialize in working with athletes, first responders, and survivors of disaster, but I am open to working with anyone wanting to improve their mental health and/or heal from their trauma.

After graduating from University of Denver's Forensic Psychology program and working in the criminal justice system, I can apply non-judgemental empathy to many situations.
I believe that every individual should receive therapy that is centered on one’s own wellbeing and desire for self-importance. My goal is to help individuals accept and trust themselves and to feel valued being themselves. I have worked alongside LGBTQIA+, BIPOC, intersecting identities, and those within the criminal justice system. I have a background in supporting individuals who experience depression, anxiety, trauma, personality disorders, and schizophrenia. I believe identity is a key element in understanding the individual and their relationship within wider systems. Please email if interested. I work Tuesdays thru Saturdays.

Drawing upon my background in forensic psychology, I incorporate knowledge of trauma, resilience, and the impact of adverse experiences into my counseling practice.
I have been passionate about psychology and helping others for as long as I can remember. One of my early passions became to destigmatize mental health care. Mental health is just as important as physical health. I work with a variety of individuals working to live happier and healthier lives by overcoming many different issues, such as anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship conflicts, and more. Through my own personal experience, I know beginning the therapy journey can feel a bit daunting, however I am here to help create a safe and collaborative space where you are comfortable.

Our life journeys are unique to us all. New experiences are awaiting us in every new direction we take; I believe that there is never a wrong path. I base my therapeutic approach on the belief that we all are good at heart, worthy, and capable of making the right choices for ourselves. Even though we can't always choose what happens to us, we can choose how we respond. I believe the way we handle the tough things life throws at us - loss, hardship, adversity, rejection—is what defines each of us as a human.

“What is wrong with me?” you think to yourself. You feel disconnected from others. You don’t feel as though anyone truly understands you or gets you. You keep talking to your family, friends, or partner about the same issue but there is no resolution. They keep asking, “What do you actually want?” but your mind goes blank. Or you know what you want, but you vocalizing your wants would hurt important people in your life. Or you don’t think what you want is important as you’ve navigated your entire life with putting your wants and needs last.

Therapy is not only for times of crises and hitting "rock bottom." It is a space for self-exploration, reflection, and intention setting. I recognize that seeking therapy and professional support can be intimidating. I support folks in overcoming stuckness, and ambivalence, disrupting internalized toxic and limiting beliefs, and finding their voice and confidence through spiritual and ancestral healing and practices to encourage optimal changes in the mind, community, body, and spirit.

At times, life is filled with authenticity, laughter, and fun. Other times it can be demanding, draining, and leave us feeling unsure. The highs and lows of life are normal and we all feel it, but at times we need extra support and space, and that is okay! As your therapist, my main goal is to provide an open, safe and accepting place for all to navigate life. Through deconstructing unhelpful beliefs, utilizing art and play to aid in emotional expression and increasing self-compassion, my hope is to find unique ways to support your or you child's journey to better mental health.

In many ways, our culture has designed an environment where perfectionism, anxiety, and depression are normalized, and a strong sense of self is lost. The individuals I work with are curious about who they really are as a whole human, and are open to exploring the perfectionism that has guided them. Other clients may have narcissistic or antisocial personality traits and a desire to identify and understand behaviors that may be hindering them. My commitment to the individuals I serve is to foster an environment that is free of shame and judgment, where they can finally explore their most authentic self.

Forensic Psychology Therapists

How does forensic psychology work?

Forensic psychology works by providing those in the legal system with expert information about psychology and behavior that they wouldn’t otherwise have. Forensic psychologists do this through a range of services—conducting psychological assessments for court cases, assisting police officers with investigations, providing expert opinion, helping with mediation, and providing mental health care to victims or perpetrators of crimes.

Can a forensic psychologist help with child custody cases?

Yes. In the event that it’s needed, an attorney or judge may appoint a forensic psychologist to provide an assessment and recommendation. This process involves multiple interviews with the child, the parent (or parents), and sometimes others. The psychologist assesses the parent’s mental health, strengths and weaknesses, and parenting practices to understand what’s in the child’s best interest. They then complete a report with recommendations based on their assessment.

Do forensic psychologists help solve crimes?

In some cases they do. For example, criminal profiling involves collaborating with law enforcement officers to construct a profile of a perpetrator based on psychology, personality, and behavior as suggested by the crime in order to focus the investigation. They may also offer expert input on subjects related to a case such as deception, false confessions, and the reliability of testimony based on eyewitness accounts.

How long do people typically work with a forensic psychologist?

The length of time an individual works with a forensic psychologist depends on the relevant service. For example, if a forensic psychologist is conducting a psychological assessment for a court case, this may take one to two sessions to complete (although they can be more extensive). If the forensic psychologist is providing therapy to someone accused or convicted of a crime, treatment may last for several months or more.
