"Life is Change, Growth is Optional," is a quote by Karen Kaiser Clark that I believe is an essential ingredient for happiness and self-fulfillment. With over 25 years of clinical experience, I strive to help my clients achieve their goals through positive change and growth. I utilize a client centered approach as I believe that each person is unique and so too are the struggles they endure. My goal is to provide a trusting and empathetic relationship with my clients and to provide them tools to move toward positive changes in their lives.

Some of my main professional interests include: LGBTQ+ concerns, diversity, OCD, anxiety, trauma, eating concerns, family of origin issues, and individual and group therapy.
At times we all face things that can feel challenging, insurmountable, or overwhelming. I view therapy as a space where my clients can share their experiences and explore patterns where they may be feeling stuck. I am passionate about helping clients work through this stuckness and detangle obstacles that may be standing in the way of the goals you desire to achieve. I recognize that taking the step to seek therapy can feel vulnerable and I am intentional about providing a nonjudgmental space as we work together in addressing the challenges that bring you in. Please know we will be opening a South Florida location this Sept 2024!

I'm Amanda, and I help deep feeling, introspective, and motivated adults and teens become aware of the root causes of their patterns of behavior. You’re frustrated by doing everything you "should" be doing and realizing that fulfillment you were promised is nowhere to be found. You’ve taken the “right” steps in life, but you're depleted, and wondering how you can feel so bad when you've done it all right. You may see yourself as obsessive, self-critical, and deeply flawed despite your achievements and successes. You want to feel relief, and to be able to appreciate the life you’ve built for yourself.

My primary areas of clinical focus are on anxiety disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and trauma.
As your therapist, my goal is to provide an individually-tailored approach by accepting you as you are and helping you transform into the best possible version of yourself. Life tends to be a mixture of peaks and valleys, which can be challenging. You do not have to embark on your journey alone. It is important to find fellow humans who respect, support, and care for you. I know it is difficult to jump right into therapy, so my approach is to go at your pace. I will challenge you to push yourself, but in a way that is helping you grow in your journey, not making you feel like you aren't strong enough, because you are.

There is a quote by J.R.R. Tolkien, "not all those who wander are lost". I think this is a solid descriptor of my life's journey. To the outside observer, I've looked similar to a vagabond as I've "wasted my potential" walking barefoot through Orlando serving the homeless, living in Brazil while working with at-risk children abandoned to the streets, and even more recently as I've dove into therapy with men and women struggling with sexual addiction and the fallout of effects upon their loved ones. I've wrestled with my own struggles and mental health diagnosis of OCD and now have the privilege of serving others.

You know there is more to life than this, and you're ready to reconnect to your true self free from the mental chains caused by anxiety, stress, and overwhelm.

Obsessive-Compulsive (OCD) Therapists
How long does OCD treatment take?
Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is often treated on a weekly or twice-weekly schedule, depending on symptom severity and the client’s preferences. Some clients may start to see a noticeable improvement in symptoms in as little as six weeks, but it’s also possible, especially in more severe cases, for treatment to take several months to a year before significant progress is made.
What happens if OCD is not treated?
Some people with OCD, especially those with mild symptoms, may find that they are able to adapt reasonably well to life with the condition, even if their symptoms never resolve completely. However, many people, particularly those whose symptoms are severe at the outset, find that their obsessions and compulsions grow more intrusive with time, making it harder to maintain relationships, hold down a job, or navigate the world successfully.
Are there medications for OCD?
Medication can be used to treat OCD. The class of drugs most often prescribed are selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, or SSRIs, which include fluvoxamine (under the brand name Luvox), fluoxetine (Prozac), and sertraline (Zoloft), among others. In cases of treatment-resistant OCD, other classes of medication, such as tricyclic antidepressants or atypical antipsychotics, may be prescribed. Medication is frequently used in conjunction with therapy.
Can OCD come back after treatment?
Yes. Major life transitions, periods of stress, or other factors can cause symptoms to return or, if they were never fully eradicated, to ramp back up in intensity. For some, these relapses are brief and do not require additional treatment; identifying specific triggers and practicing the skills learned in therapy can help speed their course. For others, returning to therapy for a brief period can help address the underlying stress and strengthen coping mechanisms.
