I combine EMDR with talk therapy in a way that meets you where you’re at; I'll help you manage present-day chaos while healing deeper wounds from the past.
How many times this week have you muttered, "What the actual fuck just happened?" If you're Gen Z, maybe you're feeling the weight of a chaotic economy & political rollercoaster. Or, if you're a millennial, you might be frantically balancing the never-ending quest to be perfect at work, navigating friendships (endlessly planning to make plans), attending baby showers, & swiping through dating apps—because this time it'll be different, right? Perhaps you're trying to wrap your head around yet another 'once-in-a-lifetime' event this week. Or maybe you're a parent determined to break generational cycles to be a healthier parent.

I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) with a specialization in trauma-informed care, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing ( EMDR), couples counseling, family therapy, and women's issues.
Hello and welcome to your healing Journey. Life brings us both joy and pain. For some, it can be a beautiful journey, while for others, it may involve significant suffering in both mind and body. Many of us feel alone and lack the support we need to heal. As children, we were often taught that asking for help was a sign of weakness, leading us to feel isolated and unimportant. But you do matter. By seeking help, you’re already acknowledging your worth and your desire to unlock more of your potential. I am partnered with Wellqor a fully virtual practice designed with you in mind.

To get to the root of emotionally driven behaviors, I offer Internal Family Systems Therapy, EMDR, Brainspotting, and mindfulness based interventions to help navigate blocks that keep you from fulfillment.
Navigating life’s challenges can be tough, particularly when you are in “push through it” mode and neglecting the parts of your life that help you to thrive. This is when you are most vulnerable to anxiety and depression and most likely to fall out of attunement with your best self. Relationships begin to suffer and sometimes it's hard to plow through the weight of past judgments, prejudices, feelings of shame, and guilt. Those types of past experiences can feel like unwelcome guests and their impact can be profound, but if we can learn to turn toward them with openness and understanding, change can be found around the corner.

My therapeutic approach integrates various evidence-based modalities, including Play Therapy, CBT, Motivational Interviewing, DBT, and EMDR.
Seeking safety, connection, and acceptance is an inherent part of the human experience. The best way to fully experience this is through an empathetic, non-judgmental, and welcoming counselor. I desire to facilitate a deeper level of internal awareness. Through self-exploration, we can find out if we are being motivated by fear or love. When one can Identify the patterns within the subconscious, there is freedom and healing!

We will meet by teletherapy means, from the comfort of your home, utilizing a body/energy centered, strengths-based, integrative approach, that blends traditionally successful approaches like EMDR, somatic, and narrative methodologies with mindfulness, inner child work, and visualization.
You are NOT crazy! The part of your brain concerned with survival is likely feeling frantic, causing your logical self to go offline and your emotional self to be dysregulated. Are your old triggers and dysfunctional coping responses intensifying? Trauma, loss, change, conflict, and oppression can make you feel hopeless, lonely, anxious, depressed, and distrusting of you. You don't have to be defined by your past; you can transform your life by overcoming obstacles that keep you stuck and in pain. “Your task is not to seek for love, but merely to seek and find all the barriers within yourself that you have built against it.” Rumi

Hi! I am Nicole French. I have been a counselor for the last 10 years and have worked with some of the most diverse clients helping them to find a path toward health and mental wellness. For some this has looked like freeing themselves from old hurts, finding value in themselves again or possibly for the first time, setting healthy boundaries in various types of relationships, learning skills to manage specific symptoms like anxiety or depression, and building achievable goals in all areas of their lives.

Drawing from trauma-focused interventions, particularly EMDR, I use an integrative approach to understand your life experiences and how they have led to your feeling disconnected, unhappy, anxious, and/or depressed, and ultimately seeking therapy.
Finding a good therapist is no easy task, and the process can be overwhelming. But you should know that by being here you've taken an important step forward in beginning to heal your pain and resolve your personal struggles. Letting yourself be vulnerable with a stranger is scary, and I commend you for taking the first step in finding someone who will listen, hold space for you, and help you to navigate a new, more positive way forward.

EMDR Therapists

Who is EMDR for?

EMDR was initially developed as a treatment for individuals with Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), for whom memories of a deeply distressing experience can be inadvertently triggered by random everyday events. The procedure has since been applied in the treatment of many other conditions. For example, it is used by some therapists to treat anxiety disorders including panic and phobias, depression, dissociative disorders, eating disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and some personality disorders. It is suitable for adolescents and adults.

Why do people need EMDR?

People need EMDR as a way to manage distressing memories that in some way hamper the ability to function in the present. The procedure is believed to target the way memories are stored in the brain. Evidence indicates that past disturbing experiences cause ongoing distress because they were not adequately processed, and when such memories are triggered in the present, they are accompanied by all the emotions, thoughts, and physical sensations as the initial experience.

What problems does EMDR treat?

First and foremost, EMDR is intended as a treatment for PTSD, to defuse distressing memories that intrude on and impair everyday functioning. It is also often used to help those who are subject to panic attacks, phobias, and other forms of anxiety. In addition, EMDR has been used to treat individuals with depression, eating disorders, and personality disorders.

What happens in EMDR therapy?

First the therapist takes an individual’s history, and then the therapist and client decide which distressing experience(s) will be the target(s) of the exercise, delivered via a side-to-side visual stimulus requiring lateral eye movements. The client will be asked to activate thoughts, feelings, and any body sensations related to the troubling experience. The eye movements are said to reduce the emotional charge of the memory, so that the experience can then be safely discussed with the therapist and digested, minimizing its ability to trigger anxiety.
