Do you find yourself burdened by anxiety, no matter what you do? You might be exhausted from trying to manage all the thoughts that are constantly running through your mind. Your schedule and responsibilities keep you feeling anxious and overwhelmed, or like you can't measure up. Maybe it's becoming difficult to remember a time you didn't feel this way. You've tried on your own to feel better, and now you're ready to take the next step in finding relief. You want to feel more in control of your thoughts and actions. Most of all, you want to be free from the ways anxiety is holding you back.

There may be times in your life when you feel as if you are surviving life instead of enjoying it. Now may be one of those moments. Survival is an instinct that drives many human behaviors and is completely acceptable. Moving beyond survival requires support. Life can be challenging at times and seeking help with those challenges can be intimidating. If you are seeking emotional wellness, self-acceptance, personal growth, or help in finding answers, I invite you to call for consultation and determine whether I am the right therapist for you.

I have been a counselor for 20+ years, and a Trauma Informed Bodyworker for the past decade. I now specialize with clients who desire to add Trauma Informed Bodywork to their healing journey as they continue work with their counselor. I require clients to already be working with a counselor, because Bodywork may cause issues to arise that will need to be processed in counseling. I am both a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) and Licensed Massage Therapist (LMT) in Florida with a doctoral degree (PsyD) in clinical psychology.

Anxiety can fool you into believing that you’re not in control of your life. The paralyzing fear of experiencing another panic attack and the unwanted attention it brings can be debilitating. Do you have moments when the anxiety becomes so severe that you believe you are losing your mind or sense of connection to reality? Racing thoughts may consume your mind, amplifying self-doubt and loneliness. You avoid social interactions because you are worried about what others will think of you, leading to you feeling physically ill. Does your body feel overwhelmed by traumatic memories invading your sleep?

I prefer a psychodynamic approach which incorporates gestalt and existential theories as needed; but I am also trained in cognitive-behavioral and rational-emotive counseling.
My ideal client would be someone who has experienced trauma and wants to heal from this as best they can. I work with many veterans as well as many people who have experienced complex trauma and abuse. I enjoy working with geeks and gamers since I am one myself and appreciate the benefits of using technology in and out of session.

My therapeutic approach is grounded in a comprehensive framework that integrates attachment theory, child-parent psychotherapy, psychodynamic exploration, and behavioral strategies.
I understand the challenges parents face in today’s world. By providing a safe space for open dialogue, I help parents manage stress, improve communication, and build resilience. When parents thrive, so do their children. I work closely with both parents and teens to address underlying issues and foster stronger family connections. Together, we can create a healthier, happier family dynamic.

While psychodynamic in nature, I utilize behavioral therapies (ACT and DBT) to help a person feel heard and continue to grow.
Life can be difficult--sometimes, unnecessarily hard. People do their best to cope with challenges, but often these coping strategies are destructive, hindering our emotional health and interpersonal relations. I specialize in depression, relationship issues, anxiety, and substance and behavioral addictions. Ideally, I can help you find your true self, and through this journey you can begin to discover what you truly deserve in life.

Psychodynamic Therapists

Is psychodynamic therapy evidence-based?

Studies have found psychodynamic therapy to be effective in treating conditions like social anxiety, eating disorders, chronic pain, some personality disorders, and depression; indeed, some studies have found it to be just as effective as CBT or medication. What’s more, several studies have found that the benefits of psychodynamic therapy tend to endure—even grow—long after treatment has ended.

How long does psychodynamic therapy last?

Unlike CBT and other more structured forms of therapy, psychodynamic therapy tends to be open-ended and may not be limited to a set number of sessions. It is common for clients to be in therapy for a year or longer and to see their therapist one to three times a week, though the exact schedule and timeline may vary depending on a client’s challenges and progress. However, brief psychodynamic therapy is available, which tends to be more goal-oriented and typically unfolds over 16 to 30 sessions.

Does psychodynamic therapy work?

Research finds that psychodynamic therapy can help someone manage or reduce symptoms of diagnosable mental health conditions like depression or anxiety. The modality may also offer a range of benefits that are harder to measure but just as valuable—such as increased self-worth or healthier relationships. While no therapy type will work for everyone, research and anecdotal evidence suggest that psychodynamic therapy can be highly effective.

What are the limitations of psychodynamic therapy?

Some meta-analyses have concluded that there is little evidence to suggest that psychodynamic therapy can effectively treat certain mental health conditions such as PTSD, OCD, or psychosis, though it is sometimes used to do so. More broadly, the open-ended, free-association structure of psychodynamic therapy may be frustrating for clients who prefer a more structured, time-limited, or goal-oriented approach.
