Maybe your own mental health is interfering in your relationship. Regardless of the challenge, you’re in the right place. As a Christian couples counselor, I offer more than just psychological insights; I provide a pathway to spiritual and emotional healing for couples and individuals.

I have a Christian worldview and often incorporate the Christian approach to help reach one's full potential.
Do you wake up each morning feeling excited and enthusiastic about the day ahead? Or do you find yourself feeling depressed, uninspired, anxious or just unfulfilled? Are you suffering from long-term Narcissistic abuse? Our life experiences influence us, and some of these lead to inaccurate, limited beliefs about ourselves. Once you learn to identify and understand these beliefs, life changes. The path to happiness and wholeness involves knowing your true self, transcending your perspective, and embracing your highest potential and purpose. When you change your mind, you change your state of being.

I approach counseling from an integrative, Christian perspective and address the whole person in treating clients.
Sometimes life is hard and you may feel like giving up. Perhaps you know that you want to move forward, but you are just not sure how to take the next step. I want to encourage you to not give up. Know that regardless of what you are currently experiencing, you can still find peace and hope. The greatest challenges and obstacles can also bring the greatest opportunities for growth and change. I consider it a great privilege to walk with you on your journey to find direction and peace through this challenging time.

In addition, I have extensive experience working with children, adolescents and young adults from a Christian perspective.
My passion is to encourage others to genuinely believe that hope can be found in every situation. During difficult times it can be extremely challenging to find clarity on your own. It is also easy to find ourselves stuck in patterns that prevent us from making the best life decisions. I honestly believe that each day introduces a fresh opportunity to begin making new choices.

Feeling trapped in a repetitive cycle? Maybe it's time to make a change. Relationships can grow stale to the point of living as roommates. Personal obstacles might be holding you back from reaching your full potential. Families can fall apart over unresolved conflict. How would each day differ if you overcame your own struggles, mended broken family relationships, or brought your marriage back from the brink to full restoration? Isn’t it worth trying for?

The human experience is different for everyone. My clients are busy managing hectic lives. Work, school, kids, past traumas, physical ailments, mental health issues- such as depression, anxiety, ADD, etc. Most don’t have the time to process or sort through major life events when they happen, causing a feeling of disarray. Many feel “off track” and simply want to get back to a state of normal functioning. I like to talk to my clients about their personal needs and goals. My job is to help hold you accountable and call you out when you’re slipping back into old habits or behaviors.

I want to give clients an opportunity to discuss their struggles, process their emotions, and work towards solutions in a safe, welcoming environment. I enjoy helping clients gain a better understanding of what their problems really are and collaborate with them on setting realistic goals. I believe everyone is capable of learning healthy coping skills that can make life more manageable. In addition to individual therapy, I also work with couples and families. In those treatment modalities, I aim to help family members or couples set mutual goals, improve communication, and develop healthier ways to solve the problems.

Christian Therapists

Why is it important for a therapist to be culturally sensitive?

Therapists and clients don’t need to share the same belief system or background to be able to work effectively together, but a therapist whose training includes a focus on cultural competence may be better able to form a therapeutic bond with individuals from a range of backgrounds, as they will have experience in tailoring their approach to each client—and will be prepared to acknowledge and consider the effects of culture, religion, and other factors on each individual.

Why is it important to find a therapist sensitive to Christian values?

Each person brings a unique history and background to therapy, making it important to find a licensed therapist who is trained in a broad range of treatment modalities. In addition, for people who grow up in a faith tradition that strongly influences the way they conduct their everyday life, finding a therapist who understands or shares that background can ease the disclosure of sensitive information and facilitate the therapeutic process. For some clients, a Christian therapist is likely to incorporate faith-based principles into emotional healing techniques.

How do I recognize an effective Christian therapist?

Christian therapists are licensed mental health professionals—holding a master’s or doctoral degree in medicine, nursing, psychology, counseling, social work, or marriage and family therapy—who are also familiar with Christian beliefs and values. They have an understanding of the importance that Christian principles play in the lives of individuals and families, which allows them to be especially sensitive to the kinds of struggles that can affect daily functioning. Like all effective therapists, a Christian therapist will have undergone training and certification in a variety of treatment modalities that help people through crises and enable them to master the challenges of life.

Why might someone feel comfortable with a Christian therapist?

While training, qualifications, and experience are always important, research has long established that a strong alliance between client and therapist is a major contributor to therapeutic success. An alliance is likely to be strengthened with a therapist who not only is responsive to questions and concerns but also shares a client’s faith and values. Sensitivity to spiritual matters as well as to everyday struggles can provide a welcome sense of safety and contribute to the bond between client and therapist, both of which support the therapeutic process.

Who is included in Psychology Today’s directory of Christian therapists?

The directory of Christian therapists includes professionals who have shared their background in their profiles. However, not all therapists choose to disclose this information, and they may not appear in search results for this reason. The directory also shows therapists who indicate that they have extensive experience working with Christian clients, regardless of their own background or religious affiliation.
