Anxiety disorders are treatable. I believe in teaching cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) skills so that individuals may become experts in addressing their own needs. My training began at the University of Florida where I participated in research and authored publications under the Department of Psychiatry, which has specialized in the treatment of obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) for over twenty years. This experience fostered my belief in providing evidence-based treatment. Later, as a doctoral student at Louisiana State University my specializations included parent training, assessment and treatment related to ADHD and Learning Disabilities, as well as group counseling for teens.

Sometimes we find ourselves lost or stuck and feeling unable to move forward. It's in these times where we need support, someone to help us find our way. It is OK to reach out and so important to take care of ourselves. It might seem difficult to do but everyone at some time needs help. Hope is a miraculous ingredient for peace and happiness. From our very first session, I strive to help my clients recapture their sense of hope and set goals for positive change. I work as a supportive catalyst and facilitator, providing therapy that is brief, but intensive--a "spark plug" in each client's timely self re-direction. I use EMDR, RRT, and hypnosis to quickly process anxiety, depression, and post-traumatic stress. Such deeper level treatments frequently bring faster relief. I enjoy coaching individuals who are excited about investment in "self" as the primary instrument of their own personal success.

My 30 years of sobriety coupled with my education and experience affords me a unique perspective counseling addicts and families. I trained at the Hanley Center and worked as the primary therapist in the men's unit there for 15 years. I left Hanley for private practice and also serve as clinical director of several South Florida drug and alcohol programs. My client-centered practice uses a variety of techniques to develop coping mechanisms, life skills and coaching to help addicts recognize their vulnerabilities, which lead to compulsive and addictive behaviors and the ensuing shame, depression and anxiety.

I have many years experience working with adults and children suffering from depression, anxiety, OCD, anger issues, trauma, and abuse. I have also worked in the field of drug and alcohol addiction. After my graduate studies, my primary focus and training was working with children suffering from ADHD, ODD, depression, and anxiety. I used behavioral management coupled with parenting strategies to improve the overall parent/child relationship. I gained incredible knowledge and insight regarding chronic pain as well as grief and loss while working with the elderly population through home health care and hospice.
